A Jewish person (Jonah Hill) and a Muslim person (Lauren London) plan to get married to each other, but their parents and families confront them with bigotry and awkward attempts to bridge their two cultures. Also with David Duchovny, Nia Long, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Eddie Murphy and Omar Epps. Directed by Kenya Barris. A song and a prayer are spoken in Hebrew without translation. [Running Time: 1:57]

You People SEX/NUDITY 5

 – A clothed man pretends to have sex with a blow up doll.
 A man and a woman lie under covers in a bed and we see her bare shoulders as the scene ends with them kissing. A man and a woman lie under covers while dressed in T-shirts and they talk. A man and a woman kiss briefly in two scenes.
 A man asks another man into a bathroom to look at his genitals, but the second man refuses.
 Several scenes feature one or two women wearing very low-cut tops that reveal deep cleavage and sometimes, very short skirts ending at the upper thigh. Two scenes include several scantily clad exotic dancers wearing skimpy bikinis (we see cleavage, bare abdomens, backs, legs to the hips and partial buttocks), and one with fishnet stockings, while writhing suggestively and drinking shots of alcohol in a club.

You People VIOLENCE/GORE 3

 – A woman at a dinner party sets a Muslim man’s Kufi hat on fire and she and another man stomp on it on the floor to put out the flame while people shout (there are no injuries). A woman at a party accidentally pulls off another woman’s wig and several women shout. A man jumps into a car he thinks is an Uber, but the driver screams and beats him with her fists, they argue, calm down and leave separately (there are no injuries).
 Black people and White people make offensive remarks about each other’s cultures, look at each other oddly, and walk away in several scenes. A Black man tricks a White man into wearing gang colors to a barbershop used by a rival gang and the barbers stare at him and tell him to take off the sweatshirt. At an outdoor basketball game, Black men knock down and slam into a White man several times, but no one is hurt and they all become friends.
 Words printed on a hoodie read, “Fred Hampton was Murdered.” A dinner party concludes with six diners shouting at one another for several seconds. A man and a woman argue several times. Two women argue briefly, and one of the women becomes very embarrassed. A man and his boss argue and curse at each other in two scenes. Two men argue briefly in a few scenes. At a rehearsal dinner, the father of the bride stands and calls all the groom’s friends by several derogatory names.
 A man and a woman brush their teeth and floss in a bathroom but we see no goo. A man says he will vomit but does not.

You People SUBSTANCE USE

 – Several men talk about another man who became intoxicated and sick from cocaine at a party, and a drug dealer at a party tosses a large bag of cocaine powder into the lap of a man (it is not opened, despite several men demanding to use it). Several dinner and restaurant scenes show wine in glasses along with an open bottle (no one is shown drinking), a couple of short glasses of liquor are seen on a bar (no one drinks), two bar scenes feature a back bar with three rows of differently colored alcohol bottles (no one drinks), a few men and women at a rehearsal dinner sip from glasses of wine and champagne, a bottle of champagne is opened at a bachelor party in close-up and overruns the bottle, and a man drinks from a bottle of the wine. Smoking cigarettes is mentioned twice but not seen.

 – Being tone-deaf about social issues, class differences, Black slavery, the Holocaust, religion, cocaine use, money, anger, grudges, religious bigotry, loneliness, loss, regret, personal change, forgiveness, reconciliation, love.

You People MESSAGE

 – Black Americans and White Americans have differing cultures that both produce bigotry, which can be overcome with introspection and cooperation.
