Why is “Zootopia 2” rated PG? The MPAA rating has been assigned for “action/violence and rude humor.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes many scenes of animals in peril, animals injected with venom, threats of putting animals down, many arguments, discussions of a snake committing murder, discussions of throwing animals out of their homes and taking over the land, and some name-calling. Zootopia 2 SEX/NUDITY 1
– A rabbit’s parents tell her to “come back home and make babies.” A walrus transporting a rabbit and a fox plays romantic music for them. A snake asks, “Permission to hug” a few times. A fox and a rabbit hug.
► An animal entertainer is shown wearing short-shorts and wiggling her hips while performing. Tiger back-up dancers thrust their hips onstage. Animals on parade floats dance and shake their hips. A sheep in a barbershop having its fur trimmed accidentally ends up with a bra top and a tutu carved into its remaining fur (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). A glob of gelatin is shown stuck to an animal’s buttocks.
Zootopia 2 VIOLENCE/GORE 2
– A rabbit steals a car and speeds through streets crashing into a wheeled bin carrying sheep’s wool that crashes into a barbershop where a sheep is being trimmed and we see it end up with a bra top and a tutu carved into its remaining fur; the car continues to speed through streets, swerves to miss a parade, the driver jumps into a van, crashes over a bridge and lands on a statue. Animals surround a rabbit, a fox and a snake and they jump out a window onto snow-covered ground below; they are fired at by police shooting tranquilizer darts, they slide down a snowy hill and are put into the trunk of a limousine and taken away. A rabbit follows a trail of fabric through a crowded venue and we see a shrouded figure in a light fixture hanging from the ceiling over a stage; a snake falls to the stage, wraps itself around an animal and a book in a glass container and speeds through the area being chased by a fox and a rabbit. A rabbit and a fox climb a rope up a tall tower and search through a building at the top where we see shards of snake skin; the fox breaks through a hole in the floor and catches himself and the building begins to crumble throwing animals around; a rabbit is struck with a tranquilizer dart (we see her unable to move), and a fox is punched and knocked unconscious and we see him in handcuffs and he is thrown into a cage. We hear that a snake was framed for a murder and all snakes were forced out of their homes and the area was buried under snow. A poison dart is shot toward a fox, a rabbit jumps in the way of the dart, and a car speeds through and we see the dart stuck in the door (no one is harmed). A rabbit is stabbed in the neck with a snake fang-shaped weapon that administers venom and a snake is thrown into snow. A beaver is stabbed with a poison dart and falls still (we see her unharmed later). A snake wraps itself around a rabbit to warm itself and protect the rabbit; other animals enter and think the snake is attacking the rabbit and they fight. A fox falls from a ledge and a snake grabs him and pulls him to safety. A snowplow breaks through a hedge maze and the ground breaks around the area as they chase a lynx; the lynx is kicked by a rabbit, struck by a snake with a baseball bat, and another lynx is struck in the head with a pan. Several animals are put in handcuffs and taken away in a police vehicle.
► An animal threatens a horse and questions his position as mayor. We hear about a reptile attack that caused all snakes to be banished from their home. A boss yells at a fox and a rabbit, reprimanding them for causing property damage during a chase; we hear about a small animal getting stuck in a tuba and an elephant blowing it free (we see the animal blown free and unharmed). A rabbit records a character on a hidden recording device talking about a conspiracy and arrests them. A rabbit picks a lock on a shipping container and items pour out and onto the ground. Many polar bears are shown working in a sweatshop setting using sewing machines. Animals chase a rabbit and a fox through a prison and they are picked up by a sloth in a car; it speeds away screeching tires and causing the rabbit and the fox to be pressed into the seats. A character is represented as being greedy and wanting to retain the patent for creating a mechanism that would allow all animals to live together. A lynx is thrown to the floor and told, “You don’t belong to this family.”
► A sea lion lunges at a couple of other animals when they touch it; we see sharp teeth in its mouth. A rabbit punches a fox in the stomach and he bends over gasping. A horse does martial arts moves in a few scenes. A polar bear (as a security detail) crushes something in its paw. Animals in a counseling session talk about being partners in crisis; an elephant flinches in fear when a small mouse sits on a chair next to it, an armadillo picks at a bear’s fur, and a wolverine chokes another animal. Animals rub their bare abdomens against windowpanes as a mocking gesture toward two other animals.
► A snake regurgitates a plastic bag filled with items for a rabbit. Several animals lick a frozen pole and their tongues become stuck. An animal opens a bottle of champagne and the cork sails across the room. A snake is seen with one long sharp fang (he is missing the other one). A beaver devours two pencils and sharpens others in a later scene; a remark is made about the dangers of ingesting lead. A fox and a rabbit hold a large fish and a walrus lunges out of the water to eat it; the walrus then swims on its back with the rabbit and the fox on its abdomen to transport them through the water. A plate of wriggling mealworms is served to a rabbit and a fox (we see them reluctantly eat one each). A mouse is seen hiding under a chef hat worn by a lion in a professional kitchen.
► A character panics and says that they are going to “put her to sleep.” A character orders a security detail to “put them down now.” A festival is called, “Burning Mammal.” Lynxes are described as being very territorial animals. Animals talk about a district being erased and the land being taken over by a greedy family. Animals talk about there being no snakes in their towns. A fox talks about a child needing to have his tail reattached. A fox says that foxes are solitary animals. An animal says, “Water folk are lesser mammals.” A snake is referred to as a “pit viper.” Animals talk about being emotionally insecure and having childhood trauma; a fox is sad not having been part of a pack. We hear about the development of weather walls in a community of animals allowing each group to live in their perfect weather conditions.
