A New Jersey high school boy with a speech impediment is recruited to be a debate team member by a classmate, with whom he quickly becomes infatuated. Initially thrilled, he's determined to get rid of his stutter, but soon realizes that he may be but a cog in an ambitious plot to win the state debate championship. SEX/NUDITY 7 - A teenage boy lies in bed in his room and hears his mother having sex with her boyfriend in the next room: we hear moaning, giggling and muffled conversation and we hear a muffled remark by the man stating, "use your finger."
 Two teenage boys look at a Kama Sutra book with drawings of a man and a woman in a variety of sexual positions, and the figures and positions are visible, including depictions of genitalia and penetration; one boy says that he tried one position on his dog.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A teenage boy pushes and berates his younger brother and threatens him with gory descriptive terms, such as stating that he will reach in his eye sockets and pull out his pancreas, etc. A teenage boy pounds on a door and threatens his younger brother.
 A husband and wife argue bitterly and the man takes some of his belongings and moves out. A man and a woman argue and he says, "You are so messed up." A teenage girl complains that a man stole her locket because he is a pedophile and he'd use the picture of her inside for sexual purposes.
 A boy throws a cello at a house and breaks a window. A boy throws a statue in anger (nothing breaks). A boy screams in frustration when he stutters cannot speak effectively.
 Two teenage brothers argue in several scenes. A teenager asks another teenager if he has ever felt like "burning the world down." A teenage girl refers to a boy with a speech impediment as "deformed."
 Two teenage boys watch a house across the street where a teenage girl lives. Two teenage boys play fight with cap guns and bows and arrows (no one is harmed).
 A teenage girl has a bloody nose (not from a violent act) and we see blood on a tissue. A character refers to Irritable Bowel Syndrome. A teenage boy gags and coughs into a bathroom sink (presumably he is vomiting).
 A man knocks into and tips over garbage cans while backing his car out of a driveway in a couple of scenes.
