Hell Fest SEX/NUDITY 4

 – A young woman wears a short top that reveals her bare abdomen. A young woman wears a low-cut top that reveals cleavage and part of her breast. A shirtless strongman walks through a theme park and we see his bare chest, abdomen and back.
A young man and a young woman go into a photo booth where they kiss romantically for several seconds. A young woman jumps into a young man’s arms, wraps her legs around his waist and they kiss. Two young men and two young women in separate cars of a ride kiss as they are taken through along a scary path.
A young woman makes reference to another young woman having sex with a young man and makes a hip thrust gesture; she later makes another suggestive remark with a sexual hand gesture. A costumed woman in a cage (wearing a skimpy skeletal costume and we see bones and a skull) whips a young man on the clothed buttocks through the bars.
A young man teases another young man about having a fetish (there are no specifics). A mannequin is showing lying on a floor and two people tease about making it look like it has an erection as they pull at the crotch of the pants. A young man makes a comment about a young woman knowing how to inspire an erection. Two young women talk about going topless on beaches in Spain. A young woman goes into a bathroom stall and pulls her pants down (we do not see flesh) and sits on the toilet. A man on a stage during a show talks about “spilling the blood of a virgin” and an audience volunteer proclaims that they might have the wrong person (implying that she is not a virgin).

Hell Fest VIOLENCE/GORE 8

 - The setting of the film is in a theme park completely devoted to horror so we see staff wearing monstrous costumes and masks along with displays of death, torture, dismemberment, with blood and gore throughout the film; the entrance to a horror theme park is a giant demon face with pointed teeth in its open mouth and an animated eyeball on a stalk that moves around as people walk by. There are many anxious moments where people are nearly discovered by the killer or nearly killed but get away.
A young man goes into a supply room and opens a closet; when he closes the door a masked man startles him and hits him with a heavy wooden mallet; the young man falls to the ground gagging and the masked man hits him again in the chest with the mallet, the young man drags himself onto the plate of a strongman hammer game and the masked man strikes his head breaking it in half (we see the head separate and blood and gore pours out). A masked man tackles a young man and presses a syringe into his eye (we see the needle moving close to his eyeball) and then plunges it into the eye socket (we see a lot of blood and the young man twitches briefly before falling still). Three young women walk through a haunted house and costumed monsters jump at them; they are startled and scream and they get separated leaving one young woman alone in a room with wax figures as a masked man stabs her with a long knife (we hear a crunch, she twitches as he pushes the knife deep into her abdomen, he drags her away and hangs her in the room with other dead bloody figures and we see blood dripping from the abdominal wound). A young woman is trapped in a dead end of a maze and a masked man with an axe approaches her; another young woman comes at him from the side and stabs him in the abdomen (we hear a crunch and see blood on the floor). A teen girl runs into a room screaming that someone is following and pleads for help as three others watch her; a man with a knife enters the room and drags the teen out of her hiding place, holds her by the neck and raises the knife over her, a young woman watches as he drives the knife into her chest (we see blood gush from the wound) and the teen dies. A man covered with an executioner's hood straps a young woman tightly into a guillotine and she tries to get out as he prepares the blade; the blade falls and cuts the back of her neck (we see blood) but does not go all the way through, the young woman frees herself as the man struggles to fix the blade, she runs outside pleading for help and when the man catches up to her, he stabs her in the chest (we hear a crunch and she falls dead with a spot of blood on her shirt), and then a young man coming to her rescue is stabbed twice (we hear crunches and see blood as he falls dead). Two young women walk through a maze and are followed by a masked man who locks them inside, they hide in a closet and come out after the man has passed and the young women then hide in a room of masked mannequins and the man swings an axe into the chest of a mannequin and it gets stuck; the women get away and he follows, slashing one woman on the leg (we see the bloody cut) and one woman hits the man in the face and he falls down and she later hits and kicks him repeatedly and he knocks her down and hits her in the face with the back of the axe (we see her bloody face later).
A young woman on stage in a show is strapped into a guillotine as a crowd watches and a blade falls toward her neck; a head falls off and rolls on the stage (it is a rubber head). A young woman is trapped in a ride and cannot get out when it stops and the lights go off; she sees a masked man approaching her and she screams for help and she gets out unharmed. Six people walk through a maze where costumed people jump out at them holding knives and axes; the people run through screaming. A horror theme park staff person in a monstrous costume picks a young woman up and runs away with her as she screams (she's OK later). A man puts on a mask and walks through a horror theme park, he bumps into a teen girl and she scoffs at him saying he doesn't scare her and she walks away. A zombie nun slams a ruler on a desk startling a young man. A masked man steals photos from a photo booth and a young woman chases him into a dark area where we hear a knife being sharpened and a man humming a children's song. Two couples ride in a horror ride where things fall from the ceiling toward them and lunge from all around them with loud noises and flashing lights causing them to jump. People with burlap bags over their heads take five people by the hands and lead them through a dark and fog covered path. A young woman stands in a room alone and sees a masked man on the other side of a large pane of glass; the man pounds on the glass and the girl runs and gets away. A young woman in a bathroom stall panics when a man outside the stall tries to open the door, she crawls under the stall to another stall and he grabs her head from over the wall; she screams and runs away. A young woman dries her hair in a public restroom and a masked man reaches to touch her hair and then leaves unnoticed.
A young man puts his hand into the bloody open abdominal wound on a mannequin and we hear squishing; he jumps when the mannequin grabs him. A costumed person lunges toward a young woman and spurts slime on her shirt (it looks like an alien creature costume). Several mannequins are shown dead and with a lot of blood and gore on and around them in several scenes throughout the film. A room in a maze is shown with bloody organs on display and splatters of blood around the room. Two young men shoot at rubber ducks in an arcade game. A young man strokes the beard of a "bearded lady." A young woman uses a toilet in a public restroom and we hear a flush when she is finished.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
