A detective (Tom Hardy) attempts to free himself from the corrupting influence of a powerful politician (Forest Whitaker) by rescuing the politician’s estranged son (Justin Cornwell), who has become a suspect in a murder case after a drug deal gone wrong. Havoc SEX/NUDITY 1
– A police officer demands entry to a club; the bouncer will not let him in and the officer says he is not interested in the underage girls they have inside.
► Several couples dance and stand together suggestively, and a few couples kiss in club scenes. A man and a woman hold hands and briefly kiss in a few scenes.
► We see women wearing short dresses with visible cleavage in a few club scenes.
Havoc VIOLENCE/GORE 9
– Many people in a club fight using knives, pipes and guns (we see many bloody bullet and knife injuries to bodies, faces and throats, and we hear the sounds of bones cracking); several people fall through glass tables that shatter, a man falls from a second-floor balcony (we hear bones cracking and see blood splatter from his head when he hits the ground), a woman is shot in the head and gurgles, then falls (we briefly see a hole in her skull and what appears to be exposed brain as the wound spurts blood), and another man is shot several times and convulses. A group of gang members with automatic weapons ambush a remote house shooting many people (there is visible blood splatter and they are thrown backwards from the force of the gunshots); many windows shatter from gunfire and people attempt to hide.
► A group of gang members attempt to kidnap two people and a fight ensues with bare fists and weapons, resulting in many bloody and gory injuries to ankles, faces and heads; a woman is shot through the throat with a harpoon gun (we see the bloody harpoon embed in the wall behind her) and she chokes and stumbles, held suspended by the wire through her throat; a man is stabbed in the chest with a hook and beaten with the butt of a rifle, another man is stabbed in the neck with a hook and then shoved against a nail sticking out of a wall and it stabs him in the back of the head, another man is stabbed in the cheek with a hook, another man is stabbed in the face with the bayonet of a rifle, and a man smashes another man’s head against a windowsill.
► During a shoot-out, several police and gang members shoot at each other and several people get shot (we see bursts of blood), a woman is shot in the throat and chokes on blood before she collapses and dies, many people are injured and keep fighting, a man watches another man choking on blood and walks away, and another man with many bullet wounds to his face chokes on blood. A man jumps in front of a gun to save another man; he is shot several times (we see bloody wounds) and the other man holds him and cries as he dies.
► A man is seen lying on the floor in a pool of blood in several scenes with his face bloodied as he seizes and chokes; in one scene, other men stand around him and discuss what to do with him as one man shoots him in the head (we see blood splatter). Several men with automatic weapons ambush another group in a private club room and open fire; there is extensive gunfire and many people are shot (we see bloody gunshot wounds and blood splatters) and many people are flung backwards from the force of the gunshots and we later see the resulting crime scene with many bloody corpses and blood stains on walls and furniture.
► A woman takes a man’s gun and shoots him in the stomach, then shoots two other men in the chest and head (we see bursts of blood as they collapse); she holds the gun to another man’s head (he is splattered with the other men’s blood) and verbally threatens him. Two people with shotguns approach a car that is stuck in traffic and shoot through the windows, killing several people (we see bloody gunshot wounds and blood splatters, and a man’s face is mutilated by gunshots); a woman attempts to flee and is shot in the back (we see bloody wounds and she collapses), and another man is held at gunpoint and kidnapped.
► A man enters a hospital, prepares a silencer pistol and shoots an unconscious man in a hospital bed (we see many bloody bullet wounds), he holds a woman at gunpoint, he pushes a woman and shoots her multiple times in the back (we see many bloody injuries) and she collapses dead. A man chases an injured man who attempts to board a train, shoots him and he falls from the train (we see blood splatter); they shoot at each other and one man is killed, the other injured.
► Several men throw a washing machine from a truck and it lands on the front of another car, destroying the windshield and causing the car to crash; the driver is seen later with severe bloody injuries to his body and face and he is gasping for air. A man stabs an already injured man in the neck with a pair of scissors (we see blood spray); the stabbed man gasps and chokes, and then slumps over. Police cars chase a truck in a high-speed chase, driving against traffic and occasionally clipping other vehicles and causing accidents; the police and people in the truck exchange gunfire and one man on the clings to the back door and can be heard panicking; he is nearly crushed against other vehicles and buildings several times. A police officer chases a man in a stairwell as they shoot at each other and fall down the stairs at several points, making pained sounds; the officer shoots the man and catches him, then shoves him roughly into a patrol car.
► A man and a woman can be heard in a loud argument behind an apartment door, cursing at each other until a police officer intervenes and we see the woman in the apartment, who appears frightened of the man and has a bruised and bloodied face. A man attempts to harass an elderly shop owner for protection money; another man grabs him and punches him, throwing him into walls and eventually through a glass panel on a door (we see bloody injuries and hear the sounds of the violent blows). A police officer pushes a man down a flight of stairs; he lands at the bottom and groans in pain, cursing at the officer; a woman follows and shouts that the man, “Beat the [scatological term deleted] out of me.”
► A man tries to flee out a window but another man grabs him and drags him inside, punches him, interrogates the man for information, threatening him and pressing on pre-existing bullet wounds to make the man scream in pain; another man says to stop and that the injured man is going to die. A man removes several bullets from another man’s body; we see bloody bullet wounds and the bloody forceps pulling a bullet from one (the injured man is conscious and makes pained sounds).
► A young man and woman are held on their knees at gunpoint, execution style; a man is ordered to shoot the woman and she and the young man beg him not to. We see from the perspective of a man who is suddenly attacked by another man with a pipe; the scene cuts away before we see or hear the impact. A man is held hostage by a group of people with weapons; his face is bloody and his clothes are bloodstained. Several police officers grapple and struggle with a man in handcuffs in front of a police station; he knocks over one officer, but gets up, seeming uninjured.
► A woman goes to a morgue to identify a body; we see a corpse under a sheet and when its bruised and bloody face is revealed, the woman becomes emotional and begins to cry. Several people discuss a fellow police officer who has been hospitalized with critical injuries and we see the man in the ICU in several scenes; he is unconscious, his face is swollen and bloody, and he is on a respirator and his wife sits with him and cries. In a few scenes, we see bloody pieces of evidence in evidence bags.
► In several scenes, police officers shout at suspects and threaten them with guns; in one scene, several officers with guns surround a man and one steps forward and shoves him face down against a table. A man rolls an oil drum into a lake; it is implied that a corpse is hidden in the drum.
► A man threatens another man over the phone, saying, “I will put a hole in your [F-word deleted] chest.” A man warns a woman that if a certain detective takes over a case, they will end up finding “two kids dead in a ditch.” A woman warns a man that he needs to be protected from a dangerous gang, saying, “These people will kill you.” A woman identifies a man as the murderer of another man, saying she recognizes him because she had “shot his mask off” after he committed the murder. A man describes the group of people who ambushed another group and shot him as “demons.” A man refers to another man as “cop killer.” A man jokingly refers to a woman as “killer.”
