A nonagenarian former rodeo star and horse trainer (Clint Eastwood) is tasked to cross into Mexico and convince the 13-year-old son (Eduardo Minett) of a wealthy rancher (Dwight Yoakam) to abandon cockfighting and come live with him in Texas. Also with Fernanda Urrejola, Brytnee Ratledge and Natalia Traven. Directed by Eastwood. Many lines of dialogue are spoken in Spanish with and without English subtitles or translation. – A man and a woman dance together, hold each other closely and kiss tenderly in a few scenes. A man and woman touch hands tenderly. A man and a woman walk with their arms around each other. A man kisses a woman on the cheek.
► A woman tries to seduce a man by removing her robe and lying on her bed (cleavage and bare shoulders are seen); he declines (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). Several flirting scenes between two teenagers, and also between an older couple. A border patrol officer flirts with three young women as he checks their documents. A teen boy tells a man that a woman likes him and that he thinks the man likes the woman too; the man tells the teen to keep his mouth shut and then makes a gesture across his throat.
► A woman laughs at a man and he tells her, “Usually when a woman laughs like that, a man’s fly is open.” A teen boy talks about his mother bringing home strange men and introducing them to the boy as his uncles. A teen boy threatens to say that a man has kidnapped him and raped him.
► A woman wears a deeply cut dress that reveals deep cleavage, part of her bare abdomen, bare back, the side of one breast and her bare leg to the hip. Three young women wear low-cut tank tops and we see cleavage and bare shoulders. A boy changes his shirt and we see his bare chest, abdomen and partial bare back (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). A woman wears a low-cut top that reveals cleavage.
Cry Macho VIOLENCE/GORE 4
– A man grabs a boy and holds him, the boy struggles and a rooster bites the man on the leg until another man punches the man in the face; other men move toward them menacingly, and the boy shows bruises on his back and blames the first man for beating him; the men crowd around the man and beat him with punches and kicks (we don’t see injuries). A car slams another car on the side and pushes it off the road, a man and a teen boy get out of the car and another man holds a gun on them; a rooster attacks the gunman and the other man and boy take the attacker’s gun and car and drive away. A man pulls a teen boy out of the backseat of his car, throws him to the ground and shoves him; they tussle briefly. A woman calls for her bodyguards to take a man out of her house and she threatens to call the police and have him arrested for kidnapping her son. A teen boy threatens to say that a man has kidnapped him and raped him. Police arrive at a cockfight and people run, and one man is grabbed and slammed onto the hood of a car where he is handcuffed.
► A man speeds off road to lose a police car following them; the police find them and hold them at gunpoint while one of the officers searches the car for drugs (including cutting open the upholstery).Police go to the door of a café as the proprietor closes the blinds and puts the “Closed” sign up. A horse bucks and spins several times and falls to the ground pinning its rider (we hear a thud; we do not see injuries). A man and a teen boy steal a couple of cars.
► We hear about a car accident that killed a man’s wife and their child. We hear that a woman’s daughter and her husband both died leaving young children behind. We hear that a woman’s husband died.
► A woman holds an injured goat with bloody gashes on its leg and we hear that it was attacked by dogs. A man examines a dog and says that he cannot cure “old.” A man and a teen boy hold chickens and goad them before letting them fight (they are interrupted by police) and a crowd of people cheer and watch. Two men are arrested for stealing a car.
► A teen boy has bruises on his back and he says that a man was hitting him to teach him manners. A woman says of her 13-year-old son that he is caught up in stealing, cockfights and other dangerous activity. A woman says of her teenage son, “He is my property.” A boy tells a man, “I hate you,” and, “I hope you die in jail.” A man says that his estranged 13-year-old son is being abused by his mother; we later see bruises on the child’s back. A man refers to an accident and then to another man using “pills and booze” after the accident. A man describes going into a rage after an accident that killed his family. A man reprimands another man for being late and not doing his job and tells him to clean out his locker. Two men tell another man, “Be respectful old man,” and that he should take off his hat when a woman enters the room. A teen boy talks about his rooster having had a broken leg, and that the boy nursed him back to health and the rooster killed a very big rooster.
► A man says that he doesn’t feel well, complains of drinking dirty water and walks into brush as a teen boy tells him that it’s not the water; the boy gives him a bit of cactus to eat, telling him that it will make him feel better, and the man takes a bite and spits it out.
