From the World of John Wick: Ballerina SEX/NUDITY 3

 – A man and a woman kiss passionately in a crowded nightclub scene.
While fighting, a woman’s skirt opens to reveal her legs with a garter belt (presumably holding a weapon) on one thigh and we see her underwear when she flips. Young women wear low-cut leotards and short tutus that reveal cleavage, bare backs, and legs to the hips; the color of the leotards is near flesh tone and we see the outlines of their buttocks and breasts. A man’s shirt is unbuttoned and we see his bare shoulders and back (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). Women wearing low-cut tops and dresses are seen in a nightclub scene (cleavage and bare shoulders are shown). A portrait on a wall is hard to decipher, but there could be some human bodies.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina VIOLENCE/GORE 9

 – Armed divers come out of the ocean and shoot several guards with spears (we see the spears sticking out of the wounded people with blood evident) and one is shot with several spears; armed people enter a compound and fight with a man inside, they exchange gunfire, people are thrown down flights of stairs and over balconies, and smoke bombs are discharged; the man takes a young girl into a secret passage to escape, he fights with several people and we hear blades slashing and hacking; the young girl watches as her father is beaten, thrown to the floor and threatened by a man with a gun. A man shoots several armed men in a room and he is pinned to the floor by a man holding a knife over his throat until the knife-wielding man is shot by a young girl and falls to the floor dead. A man and a young girl run away from a compound, the man sets an explosive, he is shot, and the explosive blows up the compound as the girl cries over her dead father.
Many armed people arrive at a café and a woman fights with them: they shoot at her, she shoots back and uses a knife to fight with them, she is stabbed in the back, and she pulls the knife out and throws it at the person that stabbed her (we see blood); many more armed people arrive and she tries to get away by sliding down a snow-covered roof, she fights with many more people as she runs through a mountain village, and she is struck in the back of the head with a gun and falls unconscious (she revives tied into a chair). A woman encounters several armed men in a nightclub that kick and fight with her and she falls down a flight of stairs, and she is thrown against walls and tables; the woman uses a pipe to strike a couple of men several times and leaves them incapacitated, she chases another man that has taken a young woman she is protecting, they fight and she uses an ice pick hammer to stab and slash him several times. A woman fights armed people using a sword: she slashes and stabs them and they fall and yell. A woman fights several armed people and uses grenades to blow several up; she fights one man, slams him against a wall with a grenade in his mouth, pulls the pin and stands behind a metal door as a shield (we see the wall where the man had been with a large hole in it later); another man blows up and the woman uses a metal prep table as a shield (we see blood on the table and the floor). Armed people enter a room and fight with a man and a woman; several people are shot and/or stabbed and a person is wrapped in plastic and then shot (we see blood explode inside the plastic wrap). A man fights with two other men and he is shot (he falls dead), a woman is struck in the back of the head and falls unconscious, and a young girl is taken away by a man. A woman is attacked by many armed people and fights with them, she uses ice skate blades to stab and slash several people and throws a skate that sticks in a man’s head (we see some blood). A woman exits a nightclub and drives away in a car that had been pinning a body against a wall; other vehicles in the area appear to be overturned and another car slams into her car and the occupants shoot at her; she gets out of the car, and shoots them, fights one man, breaking his arm (we see it bend unnaturally), and stabs him several times and hits him in the head with an axe. A woman in a café is shot at by a man, she returns fire and runs through the shop, she stabs him a few times, she jumps on his back and hits him in the head with a heavy metal object, she pokes her finger in his eye, he slams her on tables repeatedly, she snaps his arm over a wall, he yells in pain and she shoots him (blood sprays). A woman frees herself from her bindings and shoots several people, she runs away and is chased by another woman, they fight and one is held at gunpoint; people are ordered to kill two women and many grenades are thrown into a room where the women are; the explosions throw the women, one is killed and one is wounded (we see bloody wounds). A woman attacks a man, ties a cable around his neck and pushes him over a railing where he hangs briefly before exploding with a grenade (we see blood splatter on the wall). A woman slashes another woman with a cleaver, they fight, one slams the other using a wooden mallet, they break many plates over each other’s heads and one woman is shot dead (blood sprays). A woman finds an armory and arms herself with explosives that she uses to attack many people trying to kill her; explosives blow people up and we see some bodies in flames. A woman uses a flamethrower to dispatch many attackers (we see them thrashing in flames) and a man arms himself with a flamethrower; they shoot flames at each other and the woman then uses a water cannon to douse the flames, the man’s flamethrower blows up engulfing him in flames and he falls to the ground dead.
A man kicks a booby-trapped door open and he is shot in the head. Two women at opposite ends of a table assemble guns and one points her gun at the other, and the other points her gun at the first woman who shoots the second (we see her slumped back in her chair dead). A woman shoots a man and he falls dead. Three people stand in front of several people with guns; the gunmen are given direction to shoot and two of the three people fall dead. A man and a woman fight, the woman shoots at the man, he throws her to the ground and holds a blade to her throat, he throws her through a wooden door, splintering it, they fight with kicks and throws, he holds a gun to her face, and they then go their separate ways.
People perform fight training with hand-to-hand combat, shooting in a firing range and in scenarios where they are protecting someone as they are being fired upon (with rubber bullets). A woman fights with a man and is thrown; she is told to fight like a girl if she wants to win and she kicks the man hard in the groin twice. A woman is shot by others using rubber bullets in a few scenario attempts and she flinches. A woman is told to cheat and lean into her strengths while training.
A young girl is seen with blood on her face and we understand that she and her father were attacked by assassins and that her father was murdered. A woman wearing toe shoes spins on a stage and falls repeatedly while a woman watches and tells her to continue; she falls hard each time and we see blood smears on the stage. A man leans over a chair back and groans when another man presses a branding iron against his back (we hear a sizzle). A woman pulls a knife tip out of her shoulder and we see blood trickle. A woman heats a knife blade and uses it to cauterize a bloody wound on her side. Many dead men are shown slumped against walls, on tables and the floor as a woman leaves an area; she removes knives from several bodies as she passes them. A woman carries a severed hand in a bag and another woman tells her that her bag is leaking when blood drips out. A woman walks across a railing outside a building and gets into a room looking for a man; she puts her weapon down when a young girl approaches her, and a man holds a shotgun on her. A woman nearly hits a woman and a young boy in a walkway; the child makes the shape of a gun with his hand and pretends to shoot the woman.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
