A man uses a handheld bag to help a man breathe when the power goes out and the patient seems to have a heart attack; a young woman continues on the bag while the aide performs chest compressions to get him stabilized.
► A young man talks about his father beating his sister one night and that she ran away and the man killed her horse that same night; we hear that the man broke the young woman’s nose and ribs and separated her shoulder. A young woman tells an aide, “Don’t leave me alone with him,” referring to her father. An aide tells a young woman that her father will not wake up. We hear about a car accident that killed a woman. We hear about unscrupulous acts on the part of a lawyer for a mining company and a government oversight cover-up. We hear that a woman died in childbirth. The power goes out in a house and monitors and life support systems fail; a young man tries to find a backup generator to get them started again. A young man and a young woman argue about putting a horse down and after the young man tries to justify his decision, she says, “Let’s just kill him then.” A man talks to a young man about an old horse and that he should be put down. A young man arranges to sell a ranch and a car when his father dies; he meets with a lawyer that advises him that there will be little left after the sale. A young man says that he found a horse in a pool of its own blood with a bullet in its head. We hear several news reports about the environmental impact of mining, pollution and invasive plants. A young woman tells a young man that his car smells like high school. A young woman says, “I feel sick.”
► A fallen tree is shown after it crashed through a fence. A truck breaks down on an isolated two-lane road. A young woman panics when she returns home and thinks that her father has already died before she got there.
► A young woman kills a chicken by slitting its throat, it flaps around and eventually dies; she collects the blood in a bowl and prepares the bird for a meal. A bird defecates on a car’s windshield (we see the goo) and a young man hurries to wipe it off. A young man syphons gas from a vehicle and spits some out.
