SEX/NUDITY 5 - A man and a woman kiss and she thrusts her hand into his pants (we see rhythmic movement as he moans). A man and a married woman lie in bed (sex is implied) and he kisses her bare, bruised thigh (we see her upper chest and upper abdomen with her arms covering her breasts). A man and a woman kiss and the man leaves the room and then returns and the woman takes him to another room; sex is implied. A man has a flashback to having sex with a married woman and we see a brief thrust.
► A man and a married woman kiss and her husband sees them (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). A man and a married woman kiss on a street. A man chases a woman and they jump into water where they swim and flirt; the woman kisses the man on the cheek and the man kisses her. A man and a woman flirt and kiss and they dance together.
► A man and a married woman dance a Tango very close together and the woman gasps when the man dips her a couple of times. A man and a woman dance close together. Several couples dance at a hall. A husband and his wife dance in a hall and he grabs her clothed buttocks (she pushes him away).
► We see a man's bare buttocks when he is placed on a bed spring for punishment. Men and women are shown wearing swimwear in a beach scene (a woman is seen wearing a one-piece swimsuit that reveals the outline of her nipples through the fabric). A hanging dead man's pants are pulled down to expose his bare legs to the shirt tail (no genitals or buttocks are seen).
► A married woman tells a man who is not her husband that she is pregnant with his child.
VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - A handcuffed man is taken to an interrogation room; when he does not answer questions he is strapped to bed springs and whipped on the bare buttocks and back repeatedly (we hear him yelp and holler several times) and we can hear the blows continue from outside the room (we later see bloody lashes on his back when a doctor applies a medication; the man is then stabbed under the fingernails with a hot, pointed tool and he screams (we hear sizzling) and vomits a large amount of stomach contents into a pan on the floor (we see the vomit and mucus mixed with blood runs from his nose). A man is strapped to bed springs and questioned (we see his nose bleeding and he has a black eye afterward).
► A man is sentenced to death for treason and we see him hanged; his hands are tied behind him, he is hoisted into the air with a band around his neck (we watch from behind as his feet kick and his hands flail behind him for an extended time before he dies and a doctor checks for a pulse). A man is escorted to a courtyard where he faces a wall and is shot (we hear the shot and do not see the result).
► A man slaps a prisoner hard in the face and he falls to the floor with a bloody nose. A man in a cell is blinded by bright lights that are left on all the time. An officer slams the head of a prisoner into a table three times (we see his nose and face very bloody and he seems dazed when he stands back up from the floor). A prisoner is placed in a straightjacket and strapped to a table where a serum is injected into his foot and he has flashbacks as he twitches and his eyes open wide.
► A man and a married woman kiss and her husband sees them; the husband barges into the room, shoves his wife, kicks her in the stomach twice (she is pregnant) until the other man holds a tool toward the husband and he leaves saying that he will kill them both. We hear fighting in a pub and three men are thrown out (one man has a bloody face). A man shoves his wife in several scenes. A husband grabs his wife's clothed breast and she pushes him away; he chases her into a bedroom and we hear several slaps and she yells as he beats her. A husband slaps his wife's face twice and we hear clothing tearing (presumably her dress) behind a closed door. A man is chased through streets by armed police and he is eventually caught; the man is taken away and we later see him in prison garb and understand that he is held in a concentration camp.
► We see an explosion in the distance and a plume of smoke rises; we hear that half of the roof of a building collapsed and 8 people die in the explosion. A man tests an explosive device and blows up a tree (we see the blast and the remaining splintered stump).
► A man brings the relatives (a woman and her two daughters) of a bombing suspect to a village square and the woman struggles to keep a grip on her children until the man explains that she must go with the police or they will take the children as well. Two armed guards approach a man; they arrest him and slam him into a cell when they discover a Red Front pin on his lapel. Armed guards scramble through the streets after an explosion.
► We hear a man grunting and panting and then see him planting explosives and a timing mechanism in a hole in a wall; the man moans when he stands up and we see trickles of blood on his hands. A man says, "You'll be strung up. You'll be shot." Three men paint a German phrase (not translated) on a wall and are chased by security. A man says that his wife will never talk back to him again (suggesting that he beat her). Several children chant mockingly and dance around a family going to church. A man tells a prisoner, "They can have you shot." A man tells his captors, "Shoot me already." Many people gathered in a room chant a Nazi phrase and perform a Nazi salute. A man and his adult son argue about the father drinking all the time. We see a meeting room draped with Nazi flags. A man is interrogated and he hums a tune instead of responding. A woman is shown seated in a square with a placard around her neck that reads that she is a big pig mocking her friendship with a Jewish man; police and townspeople stand around laughing at her. We hear an explosion in a mountain during a mining operation. We hear about the 1937 bombing of Spain and a man describes that people were shot, torn to pieces or burned. We see a German propaganda film about the building of tanks. We see crowds of people cheering for Hitler. We read a sign at an entrance to a town that reads, "Jews Not Welcome." We hear that Dresden has been raised and air raid sirens blare. An officer orders the death of a man.
► A man and a woman stand at a grave and we see the name of an infant boy on the marker (we understand that their baby died). A man finds a woman lying on a bed and we see her face badly bruised and swollen (presumably from a beating by her husband). A man has scratches on his face (presumably inflicted by his wife). A man is shown passed out on a sofa with a spilled bottle of liquor on the floor and flies buzzing around his open mouth. A woman is shown with her leg bandaged under her stockings (not clear what her injuries are). A man drops his pants and we see that he has bloody, scabbed knees.
LANGUAGE 4 - 2 sexual references, 2 scatological terms, 3 anatomical terms, 4 mild obscenities, name-calling (lunatics, swine, insane, dumb, idiot, dirty pacifist, filthy whore, coward, crazy, apolitical, liars, soft, lowly, stupid, bastard, big shot, bogeyman, drunkard, drunk bastard, Reds, Bolshevik scum, moron), 1 religious exclamation (Jesus).
SUBSTANCE USE - A man is forcibly injected in the foot with a serum during interrogation (possibly a truth serum). A man is said to be and shown to be drunk in many scenes, a man confronts his father about drinking too much, a man drinks from a jug of cider and his son spills the rest on the ground, a man drinks brandy, a man is shown asleep on a table in ah all while holding a mug of beer, a man drinks a shot of liquor and has a mug of beer in his hand, people drink alcohol at a festival, and people in a hall drink beer and Kirsch. A man in a car smokes a cigarette, men in an interrogation room smoke cigarettes, people smoke cigarettes under a tent where they watch a propaganda film, people smoke in a theater, and people smoke cigarettes in a hall while dancing and drinking.
