VIOLENCE/GORE 4 - Some large Digimon look like dinosaurs and they have scary voices. There are several fights and battles among Digimon. Large Digimon monsters fight each other, pushing, shoving and punching, and often with fireballs and electrical charges. They inflict a lot of property damage: buildings and other structures blow up and city blocks are destroyed. A large Digimon destroys several beds, crashes an unoccupied car, opens up a soft drink machine and then fires fireballs that destroy a phone booth -- he also fires at aircraft flying overhead but misses. We see Digimon being hit, but the results are not gory or fatal. In one scene a horde of evil Digimon fires at the good Digimon and vice versa. Many Digimon are destroyed and one is killed by being split apart (the scene is not graphic). In another scene a Digimon is hit by an arrow and various missiles and it explodes (again, the scene is not particularly graphic). A Digimon has machine gun-like arms and shoots at another Digimon whose wounds heal by themselves. We see excrement on a floor and we hear a flatulent sound emanating from a Digimon. A nuclear missile is launched and we follow it through the air but it does not explode.

LANGUAGE 1 - A few insults and grunts.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Digital creatures, Anime, spontaneous healing, alternate realities.

MESSAGE - Good can often be as violent as evil.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
