"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME

Sweet November | 2001 | PG-13 | - 4.2.4

Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron team up in this romantic drama about a workaholic man and a woman who fears commitment. When the two meet they uncover many unresolved emotional issues and, of course, fall in love. Also with Frank Langella, Liam Aiken, Greg Germann, Lauren Graham and Jason Isaacs. [1:57]

SEX/NUDITY 4 - Lots of sexual innuendo, including references to homosexuality, a threesome, and flashing. A few scenes of mild and passionate kissing. We see a man and woman lying in bed together, obviously nude (only bare shoulders seen though). We see a man in the shower from the middle of his torso up. A couple kiss passionately as he tries to undress the woman but she stops him after they fall onto the couch kissing. We see a woman's nipples through her camisole. In one scene a couple are kissing and bathing in the bathtub, but we only see her bare shoulders and his chest. We see a couple having sex and can tell he is thrusting below the camera frame; we see their heads and shoulders only, although they are obviously nude. We see a woman in her bra and panties. There are four scenes showing a man's bare chest. There are two transvestites (the fact that they are transvestites surprises a dinner guest). A hot dog is used as a phallic symbol in an ad campaign.

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - We see a spot of blood on a man's hand after he brushes glass bottles to the floor; later we see a spot of blood on his bandage. A woman throws pill bottles at a man and then falls to the floor. A couple of men scuffle.

LANGUAGE 4 - Many mild obscenities and scatological references, some anatomical references.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Workaholics, falling in love, dying.

MESSAGE - Live life to its fullest.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
