Two men bathe in a stream and we see them shirtless (their bare chests, abdomens and backs are seen). Two men are shirtless and swim in the ocean (we see bare chests, abdomens, and backs). A man wears a shirt and underwear as he climbs into bed (we see his bare legs to the hips). A teen girl’s top reveals her bare abdomen.
Anemone VIOLENCE/GORE 5
– Opening credits are accompanied by crayon drawings of violence and people being shot and killed (we see people lying in puddles of blood) and blown up (we see severed limbs being thrown into the air). A man describes fighting in a military context and describes a munitions site blowing up, and tells of the injuries suffered by the two people inside; he says that a severely wounded person (described as his innards being spilled out and another man’s teeth embedded in his head) pleaded for the man to shoot him and he did. A man punches another man in the face, they tussle and punch each other, they elbow each other and fall to the ground where one punches the other in the face a couple of times and he lies still, but revives.
► A man aims a gun at something unseen, his hands shake, he shoots and we hear a screech (we do not see the result). A man hears a sound outside his cabin and arms himself with an ax; he hears another sound, puts the ax down, and opens the cabin door where another man enters. A woman crosses a street and a car honks at her. Large blocks of ice fall from the sky in a storm; one breaks a window and another falls through an open window while car alarms sound and power lines spark.
► A man rides a motorcycle and then walks through an isolated forest to find another man. Storms loom in a few scenes with wind blowing and trees swaying. A teen boy cries in his room and his mother consoles him. Two men dance wildly after drinking a bottle of liquor. A man sees a large glowing creature standing at the side of a pool of water and we see a face, an outline of organs as we hear a heartbeat, and an outline of male genitals.
► An EMT dispatch operator talks to a person on the phone advising them to not remove an injured person’s helmet or move him; she says, “I know there’s a lot of blood.” A man talks about meeting a priest as an adult and remembering that the priest had sexually assaulted him when he was a child; the man describes unfastening his pants and standing over the priest before defecating on him. A man talks about his father hitting him with a belt. A teen boy talks about really hurting someone after he said something derogatory about the teen’s father. A man teases another man about having soiled underwear. A teen boy is shown with bloody and bruised knuckles and people talk about him fighting with another teen and that he “nearly murdered him.” A man says, “We didn’t have much luck with fathers.” A teen boy asks his mother why his father left them.
► A man sees a giant fish with a bloody gash in its abdomen float by in a stream. A swirl of blood and matter is seen in what looks like milk and blood splatter is seen on a windowpane (we don’t know what this is from).

CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
