Sequel to the 2020 movie about ancient warriors (Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli) with the ability to heal from their battle wounds and presumably live forever. Dedicated to protecting humanity, an unknown and very ancient immortal (Uma Thurman) shows up with an entirely different motivation. Also with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Veronica Ngo, Henry Golding, Todd Cattell, Kamil Nozynski and Slavko Sobin. Directed by Victoria Mahoney. A few lines of dialogue are spoken in French and Italian with English subtitles, and a scroll is written in an unidentified language with a voiceover in English translating some of it. [Running Time: 1:47]
The Old Guard 2 SEX/NUDITY 2
– Two men touch their foreheads together lovingly and hold hands. A man tells another man, “Let’s go to bed,” and they leave the room embracing (it is implied that they are lovers). Two women talk about being together always. A woman makes a comment about a sex swing.
► A woman wears tank tops that reveal cleavage and her bare shoulders in several scenes and the outlines of her nipples are visible in a couple of scenes.
The Old Guard 2 VIOLENCE/GORE 7
– Many armed people surround a compound with many more armed people around and inside the compound; people discuss arms sales before the armed people enter the area and kill many, exchanging gunfire and slashing with swords and knives; one person’s thumb is cut off (we see the severed digit) and he presses it back in place (we see it reattach), and a guard urinates against a tree (we hear the stream) and is punched hard in the face when he turns around. A man and a woman enter a villa and the woman attacks several guards using a sword (we see blood spray) and the man shoots a few (blood splatters); the woman is grazed on the neck and we see blood, and another woman swings from a flag and crashes through a plate glass window (unharmed). Three people shoot a man several times, he falls over a railing and we hear a thud (we see the man with bloody bullet wounds and blood pools under his body). A man’s throat is slashed and he falls to his knees as blood gushes from the wound. A woman is dragged and placed into a sarcophagus; she screams as another woman watches and screams (they are both bloody and their hands are tied) and we later see the woman in the sarcophagus pushed into the sea.
► Armed people speed to a nuclear facility on motorcycles; they enter the facility and fight with other armed people using swords and sticks (blood spurts from slashes), explosives throw a man over a railing and he lands with a thud (he revives), other explosives throw other people to the ground and they are stunned briefly, more sword fighting continues, some gunfire is exchanged and a woman is tasered a few times knocking her to the ground. A man outside a nuclear facility is surrounded by gunmen, they exchange gunfire and when the scene cuts away, we understand that the man has been killed. A woman fights several guards and hacks them with a bladed weapon; a secured door closes and traps a man with several guards that he fights and he is stabbed several times (we see blood smeared on the floor), he lies back on the ground and takes a final breath as a woman on the other side of the door screams. Two women fall out of a helicopter and fight using swords: they slash at each other and one is slashed and stabbed through the back (we see bloody wounds and blood pools on the ground). Two women fight and one is slashed on the side (we see the bloody wound). A woman is stabbed through the chest and she falls to the floor with the blade still in her body (blood pools around her).
► A truck revs its engine and speeds toward a security gate at a nuclear facility; the truck crashes into the gate and the cab breaks off throwing the driver to the ground (we see her with deep cuts on her face and head and her body is twisted unnaturally, but she revives and straightens herself out with some snapping sounds). Two helicopters take off from a facility and a woman catches onto one of them causing it to lose control; she climbs into the helicopter and fights with the pilot who shoots her and she falls to the ground with a bloody bullet hole in her face (she revives). Two women are shown bloodied and charred as fires burn around them; one woman attacks a man, pins him to the ground and strangles him (she lets go and the man gasps deeply). Two women fight in a narrow passage with martial moves and one woman draws a knife slashing at the other woman; one woman is thrown to the ground and has bloody scratches on her back. A man enters an apartment holding a gun and finds a woman inside; he lowers his gun, they talk briefly and we later see the man being taken out of the apartment with a bag over his head and his hands behind his back. We hear that an explosive has been planted in a nuclear facility.
► Two men speed in cars chased by many other people in cars and on motorcycles, they speed and swerve on narrow roads and exchange gunfire; the cars change direction at one point causing a chase vehicle to crash head-on into one of the vehicles as the driver climbs into the other car but is struck a couple of times as he clings to the side door (we see his leg broken and bloody and watch as it heals); two cars crash head-on and one is thrown over a cliff into water below (we see the driver and passenger climb out of the water and seem OK). Three men are doused with liquid nitrogen and fall to the ground, where they are wrapped in body bags and taken away. Two men and a woman spar with swords and one man is slashed on the arm (we see blood).
► A boat on rough seas pulls up a sarcophagus and the mask section is removed to reveal a woman inside gasping for air. A boat crashes onto land and scrapes the hull as the driver shoots a few people on land. A woman is seen with a deep, bloody scratch on her shoulder. A man is shown with a deep, bloody slash on his arm.
► People talk about a person’s head being blown off by a cannon. A man says that he has been exiled from a group for shooting someone. A man says that he is 2,300 years old. A woman describes the “acrid stench of hate.”

CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
