Sequel to the 2022 AI horror film: When the experimental cyborg programmed to befriend and protect a young girl ran amok, it was decommissioned, but was reinitiated when a new and improved version designed for military purposes is threatening the world. With Allison Williams, Jemaine Clement, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, Ivanna Sakhno, Brian Jordan Alvarez and the voice of Jenna Davis. Directed by Gerard Johnstone. [Running Time: 2:00]
M3GAN 2.0 SEX/NUDITY 3
– A man admires a cyborg that resembles a woman leaning against a bar at a party; they talk and sit together in a private area, she hits him hard in the face and the seat they are sitting on turns around and into a room where they are alone; he talks to her briefly, he pulls his shirt open (we see his bare chest and abdomen) and he pushes her back on the sofa where he kisses her (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details).
► A cyborg that resembles a woman dances onstage and people cheer. A cyborg wearing a short skirt dances suggestively during the closing credits.
► A cyborg recommends that a woman try to get information from a man by “wearing the right dress” to a party.
► Cyborgs resemble women with some having armored exteriors in the shape of breasts. Several women wear low-cut dresses that reveal cleavage at a party. A woman wears a low-cut dress that reveals cleavage. A man is shown shirtless and his bare chest and partial abdomen are seen.
M3GAN 2.0 VIOLENCE/GORE 6
– A hostage (a cyborg resembling a woman) with a bag over her head is taken by gunmen, shot in the head (off-screen) and collapses to the floor; when the gunmen turn their backs, she stands up and punches one (we see something fly off the man’s body and it could be his head), she gives another man a beverage that he drinks and begins coughing (we assume it is poison), and she fights with a few other men punching, kicking, stabbing and shooting them, eventually causing an explosion. Armed people enter a house and grab a woman and a preteen girl: one attacker holds a hypodermic needle to the girl’s neck and she tasers one person and he is electrocuted when water sprays on him; one person is tripped and hits his head on the stairs, and another is trapped in a Murphy bed when it closes him inside it. A cyborg begins moving, steps off a display platform and slashes a man standing nearby using a long spear (blood sprays); it then stabs two other men as they shoot at it (blood spurts), and it pulls off one of its hands and throws it hitting others. Two cyborgs fight with kicks and throws. A man shoots a woman in the chest (we see her later recovering). A cyborg pulls a man’s arm off (we see blood spray and the cyborg carries the severed arm).
► A man kisses a cyborg that resembles a woman (please see the Sex/Nudity category for more details) and she throws him across the room; the man calls for security to no avail and he seems unable to see, he is thrown onto a bed and the cyborg makes it spin around before she pulls something off the man’s neck and we see him bloody and motionless (she holds the device with dangling cables) and we understand that the man is dead. A cyborg punches a man in the head and another in the throat incapacitating them. A cyborg resembling a woman unzips a suitcase where it is stored and puts itself back together; a man transporting the case sees it open and turns around to see the cyborg just as it snaps his neck (we hear a crunch and his head turns abruptly). A woman is held around the throat by robotic arms until a preteen girl throws water on it and it short-circuits and sprays electric flashes around the room. A cyborg resembling a woman sprays smoke in a guard’s face, knocking him out and another guard approaches with a gun at the ready. A cyborg is shown motionless with a screwdriver sticking out of its head (it does not have a faceplate on and we see wires and mechanics). A cyborg resembling a woman is shown badly beaten with her face broken, and teeth and wiring exposed. A cyborg resembling a woman is tasered repeatedly as she tries to crawl away and a preteen watches pleading for them to stop; the cyborg reboots and fights back as many armed guards shoot at her and people in the area scramble to get to safety. A woman puts on robotic devices and fights armed guards; she is zapped with tasers and collapses when she is hit in the face (she has a bloody nose), she continues to fight and slams a man in the head using his own helmet as many more guards enter the room and shoot at her. A man holds a preteen girl over a railing threatening to drop her and the girl pulls down on his arm snapping it (we see the arm bent unnaturally and bone is exposed); another man vomits when he sees this (we see goo). Self-destruct alarms blare in a high security compound as people rush to get out.
► We hear that a cyborg is not responding to orders and it is operating on its own; people in a control room panic and scramble when the cyborg shoots a man in the head (we see blood splatter). A man covers another man’s face with a handkerchief (presumably with chloroform on it) and he falls unconscious; the man later sneezes and accidentally knocks himself out when he uses the same handkerchief. A preteen girl twists a woman’s arm and she whimpers; the girl leaves and a secured door closes behind her. A 12-year-old girl bullies another girl at school and the bullied girl twists the bully’s arm (we hear a crunch).
► A cyborg resembling a woman touches a device and she glows and appears to be imbued with more power. A cyborg resembling a woman and wearing a wingsuit jumps off a mountain and sails toward a high-security facility; she jumps through a vent and into the building. A car speeds through a building and crashes through a plate glass window before speeding through streets, swerving through traffic and causing crashes. A man hacks into a city’s power grid and turns off the power causing chaos; we hear cars honking.
► A woman and a preteen girl argue in several scenes. A TV turns on by itself and a character on the screen says, “You’re in grave danger” as a woman gets up and runs to investigate a noise. A woman recalls a cyborg threatening to rip out a woman’s tongue and put her in a wheelchair. A woman complains that she nearly had her head ripped off. A woman talks about the world being in crisis and that our attachment to smartphones is causing real harm; she discusses the dangers of AI. A woman talks about a device that assists people with limited function and mobility issues; it is demonstrated to show the reduction of fatigue. We understand that a pre-teen girl’s parents are dead. People talk about the development of a synthetic neurotoxin. A cyborg talks about having been betrayed and butchered. A cyborg says, “You are not family, just the help.”
