A man and a woman pull themselves across a fallen tree over a river and the man falls off and is swept away in rapids; the woman cries and fears the man is dead. A man runs toward a woman on a snow-covered mountain and jumps over a ledge (we see him crumpled on rocks below with his leg wedged in one rock formation); the woman goes to help him and we see that he has a bloody wound on his ankle. A man collapses and rolls down an incline, he slams into a woman and they tumble down together until they land hard on a flat stretch of ground. A woman falls through a hole in the snow and crashes hard among a snow-covered tree; the woman uses her climbing pole to pull herself up and to the top of the hole but crashes back down a few more times before she manages to climb out (we see some bloody scratches on her hands).
A woman sees a person sitting on a snow-covered peak and goes to him; she tries to speak to him and he seems unresponsive; she undresses him and we see that his toes are blackened and his ankles are dark red from frostbite, she tries to warm him and puts him in a rescue bag and we hear his breathing being raspy and he is unable to speak. A woman finds a man at a riverbank nearly unconscious and revives him, the man gags, and coughs and we see some goo when he spits. A man and a woman stumble together down a mountain during a heavy and windy snowstorm; the woman tells the man that if they don’t get down the mountain they will die when the man says that he can’t do it and walks away from her.  We hear what sounds like a cry for help from a distance and a woman blows a whistle trying to alert the person and find where the call is coming from. A man says he’s done, and asks a woman if there are rescue helicopters or a backup and she says no; the man cries desperately and says they are going to die. A woman repeatedly encourages a man to get him to keep walking down a mountain and he resists her several times. A woman slaps a man in the face and he complains and tells her that he is going to hit her back if she does that again. A man stumbles across a parking lot and speeds away in a car as a woman calls to him and tries to stop him.
A woman takes cover among boulders when the wind and snow begin to blow more heavily. Thunder rumbles, low clouds move across mountains and winds begin to blow while a woman approaches a high point on a mountain. A woman slips down a rocky incline and is stopped by an uprooted tree stump (she is uninjured). A woman hikes up a mountain and across a river; some trails are snow-covered and others are rocky. A woman straps chains to her shoes before climbing up a more snowy part of the mountain and as a storm begins to drop more snow.
A man advises a woman not to go up a mountain because of a severe weather forecast, and the woman tells him, “You know what day it is,” and she goes anyway. A woman remembers being with two young girls in several scenes; we understand that they are her daughters and that they died. A man tells a woman, “I can’t see her face anymore,” and talks about someone that died and he is struggling with grief. A woman tells a man that a hike up a mountain is “cheaper than therapy.”
A woman brushes her teeth and we see foam from the paste in her mouth. A woman urinates and we hear the stream in the snow. A woman tells a man not to eat snow because it will dehydrate him. CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
