Why is “The Doorman” rated R? The MPAA rating has been assigned for “violence throughout, language and brief teen drug use.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes a couple of cleavage revealing outfits and a discussion of infidelity, a terrorist attack on an official convoy that kills all but one person with gunfire and explosives, several fight scenes with gunfire and hand-to-hand combat that end in the death or injury of the participants with bloody wounds shown, and at least 5 F-words and other strong language. A decorated soldier (Ruby Rose), feeling guilty after her last mission went badly, gets a temporary job as a doorman at a hotel with very few residents since it is being refurbished. When thieves take over the hotel and threaten her family, she goes into action. Also with Jean Reno, Aksel Hennie, Rupert Evans, Julian Feder, David Sakurai, Louis Mandylor, Hideaki Itô and Kíla Lord Cassidy. Directed by Ryûhei Kitamura. The Doorman SEX/NUDITY 2

 – A man and a woman talk about having had an affair and that it caused the woman’s relationship with her sister (his now-deceased wife) to end.
► A man in a locker room wears a towel around his waist (we see his bare chest, abdomen and back) as a woman enters the room and she looks away. A woman wears a low-cut top that reveals cleavage in a few scenes. A woman wears a low-cut blouse that reveals a camisole and cleavage underneath.

The Doorman VIOLENCE/GORE 6

 – A convoy of cars speeds along a road and one is struck by an RPG and explodes into flames, another car is struck and explodes and a few others stop and the passengers exchange fire with the attackers causing several people to be struck and killed, with some blood shown on the wounds until a final car is shot with an RPG and it explodes (a child and a woman were inside this car) and the blast throws a soldier outside the vehicle through the air (she is OK later).
► A man shoots a woman in the head (blood sprays) and then a man in a wheelchair (blood sprays) and the chair falls over (we see them both again later with bloody bullet wounds). A man hits another man in the head with a board and the second man shoots the first man in the chest (we see blood on the man’s head and face from a previous altercation and blood on his chest from the gunshot wound). A man stabs another man in a wheelchair (he’s suffered a stroke) in the leg and the man does not react; the man then stabs him in the other leg, causing the wounded man to scream in pain.
► A man pours a mug of beer and offers it to another man but instead hits him hard in the head with it, breaking it and cutting the man’s head (we see blood); the first man then hits the man with a sledgehammer while he is on the ground and blood splatters. An armed man follows a woman and shoots at her, she hides among plastic tarps in a room that is under construction, jumps out at the man and they fight; the woman wraps a plastic sheet around his face and he cuts his way out before suffocating, he is then stabbed in the chest, falls to the ground gagging and we see blood and the knife in his chest. A woman and a man fight on a rooftop, she gets his gun and they continue to fight with punches, kicks and flips, and she grabs him by the crotch and shoots him in the chest (we see blood and he falls off the building). A woman fights a man and he stumbles and nearly falls into a pool of water where another man was electrocuted; the woman slides through a shaft and falls hard on the floor hurting her arm (we see blood on her arm later when she bandages it). A man and a woman fight, they shoot at each other, hit each other with guns, punch, and kick and throw each other until the man is blown up by a hand grenade and we see him thrown in flames onto an exhaust fan where he is impaled and spins around with the blades.
► A woman climbs scaffolding and a man enters the room and swings from an electrical conduit over a pool of water to fight with her on the scaffold; they both dangle from the conduit and get to the floor where they continue to fight, and the woman stabs the man with a piece of broken tile (we see blood) and he falls back into the water where he is electrocuted (he screams and thrashes). A woman crashes through a skylight and a man holds a gun on a teen boy, another man is shot in the head and another is shot in the abdomen (we see blood on the man’s shirt). A booby trap explodes and a man is sprayed with nails killing him (blood sprays on the wall behind him and we see him with nails in his chest and blood on his face and body). A man trips a booby trap and it causes an explosion in a building (he is not harmed). A teen boy opens the door of a secret room where he and a woman are hiding and a gunman outside the room shoots at him; the two slide down the cables of a dumbwaiter to escape and the gunman shoots at them (they are not struck). A woman is surrounded by many police officers with guns drawn; she fights them until they are all incapacitated.
► A man punches another man in the face (he has a bloody nose and a drip of blood on his shirt). A man lunges at a woman and she fights him and two other men knocking them to the floor, she sprays them with a fire extinguisher to incapacitate them, takes their guns and runs away. Armed men follow a woman and a teen boy and they sneak through secret passageways in the walls; they enter a secret room where they hide. A man pulls the pin on a hand grenade and holds a gun on another man that is holding a gun on him; they argue and then lower their weapons. A teen boy tells a police office that there are terrorists in a building and holds a gun on the officer before the boy is taken away by an armed man. A woman finds a smear of blood on a floor and follows it to a man lying dead on a flight of stairs with blood on his face, head and chest; the teen boy with her ducks behind a wall and vomits (we hear retching and splatter but do not see goo).
► A fire alarm is tripped in a building and when firefighters arrive, armed men hide while holding guns on a woman and a teen boy. Armed men kick open an apartment door and enter threatening the occupants. Several men use sledgehammers to break the walls in two apartments. Armed men enter a hotel and lock the doors, disable the security and communication lines. A woman slides down a fire hose to rescue a cat.
► A man yells at his teen son and sends him to his room after they argue. A teen boy yells about his father not having done enough to save his mother after a car accident. A teen boy describes the car accident that led to the death of his mother. A young girl talks about her mother dying. People talk about a woman having survived a terrorist ambush.

 – A teen boy smokes a marijuana cigarette in his room, and a woman takes a prescription pill (we don’t know what it is), a teen boy takes a marijuana cigarette out of his pocket while hiding from men with guns (he does not smoke it), and a man accuses his teen son of being “stoned.” A bar scene shows two people drinking beer, a man pours a glass of beer and drinks some (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details), a man pours two glasses of wine and he and another man drink, a man and a woman drink wine, and a teen boy says that a secret room used to be used as a speakeasy during Prohibition.
