A man (Seth Rogen) who witnesses a murder drops a cigarette of a rare type of marijuana at the scene and later realizes that it can be traced directly to him and his dealer (James Franco). The two men run away, chased by the drug lord (Gary Cole) and the corrupt police officer (Rosie Perez) who committed the murder. Also with Craig Robinson, James Remar, Joe Lo Truglio, Arthur Napiontek, Jonathan Walker Spencer, Danny R. McBride, Amber Heard, Ed Begley, Jr., Bobby Lee, Nora Dunn and Bill Hader. SEX/NUDITY 5 - Two men who are held with their hands tied behind their backs begin to cut the bonds by using the belt buckle from one man's pants, and their gyrations look and sound like sexual activity; a guard comes in and tells them to have sex on their own time.
 One man tells another man that a woman used her hand to masturbate him 5 minutes after meeting him. A man tells another man, "I love you. I want to be inside you, Homes." When a secret is told, a man says, "Well, the monkey's out of the bottle" making a possible sexual reference. To explain mouth injuries from a fight, a man proclaims that he has herpes; another man exclaims, "Herpes, man! Herpes is forever. I told you, you shouldn't have eaten that lollipop from that hooker's snatch." A teenage boy states that he will "take care" of a man's girlfriend while they are at college together. Throughout the film, several men allude briefly to sex in general conversation, using slang and explicit language (please see the Language category for more details).
 An older man and a woman kiss briefly. A young couple kisses briefly in a high school hallway.
 A naked man wheeled in a wheelchair by an orderly is shown (we see his chest and legs). A young woman wears outfits that are low-cut and show moderate cleavage. A man wears low pajama bottoms, and a man removes his suit pants that have caught fire (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details) revealing bare legs and white underwear.

VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A man witnesses a murder: a man and a woman shoot a man in the back of the head while he is pressed against a window (matter and blood splatter the window), he falls to the floor out of frame and the woman shoots him three times.
 A prolonged scene includes a lot of shooting with high powered handguns and rifles, as well as automatic guns: men run through rafters and jump down on other men and scuffle, many men are shot multiple times (we see large scratches on many foreheads and some blood), and a man is shot, falls to the floor and is shown lying in a large pool of darkened blood (his eyes are closed and he may be dead); later one man lowers his gun, limps away with a bloody leg, he is shot dead and we see more blood.
 A man is shot in the right ear and a piece of the upper lobe is blown off -- he repeatedly tries to put it back on and we see blackened and red blood; another man bites the injured ear and the injured man yells in pain.
 A bomb is tossed into a barn and it explodes throwing one man against a wall (he's unconscious but unhurt) and killing several people.
 A man is duct taped into a chair and is then shot in the stomach; he passes out, and then awakens to be shot in the stomach again (we see blood and the man is motionless and presumed dead). A woman is shot in the arm, she falls down and screams for several minutes while more shooting goes on around her and several men drop dead. Throwing stars are thrown into the necks of a few men.
 A man armed with two pistols enters a barn and threatens to kill another man, but he's shot, a scuffle ensues and he's taken to a room and tied up. A man is kidnapped by two men, a fight ensues, and he hits one in the side of the face with a coffee pot, leaving a large bumpy burn on his face.
 A man enters a house to find carpets and furniture covered in blood, and goes into the bathroom to find a man wedged between the toilet and the tub with his arms covered in blood and the two argue briefly.
 Two men with guns drawn enter a house, walk into the kitchen and are hit over the head with kitchen implements by a young woman; she then stabs one man in the shoulder with a fork (there's a little blood).
 Two men enter a house, argue with another man and there is a prolonged free-for-all fight: furniture is destroyed, heads are smashed into walls, one man throws a heavy ashtray toward another man's head, punches are exchanged, and one person falls onto a coffee table and smashes it (we see the men with scratches on their faces and a little blood).
 A man tells a man who is dating his teenage daughter to leave his house or he will get a gun; he then threatens him with a rifle, chases him into the kitchen and shoots twice (no one is harmed).
 Two men pull up to a barn that is a drug distribution center preparing to storm it, but one changes his mind and leaves the other alone to fight.
 Two men arm themselves with guns and drive off looking for other men to round up. A man steals a police car, smashes his foot through the windshield and a car chase with two other cruisers ensues (two cars are wrecked, and one flips after crashing with several cars on the highway). A man in a car panics after witnessing a murder, smashes into a police car and another car and drives off.
 Two men hide in dark woods, become frightened because they are both high, and they run into trees, roll down hills, and fight with sticks. In a brief fight scene, a man pinches the chest of another man repeatedly to end a wrestling skirmish. Two men take a man to an underground bunker and tie him up in an empty room.
 A school police officer arrests a man for selling drugs to middle school boys, cuffs him, and puts him in the back of a cruiser; she drives away, but stops when another man jumps on the hood of the car after almost being struck and dumps red Slushee all over the windshield.
 A barn catches fire after an explosion and a man's suit pants catch fire and he removes them.
 A man drives a car through a barn, runs over a man, and someone yells, "You killed my brother!" A man yells and stomps his feet and says he will kill his entire drug distributing competition. Two men threaten a man at gunpoint and there is talk of taking another man to an apartment to kill him. A man who has been smoking marijuana becomes intoxicated and shouts. A teacher and a man curse at each other. Three men covered with blood and dirt sit in a diner, one of them begins to doze off, wakes up and asks the other two to take him to the hospital.
 After smoking pot, a man vomits into a computer printer.

LANGUAGE 10 - 161 F-words, 44 scatological references, 33 anatomical references, 3 obscene hand gestures and 1 sexual gesture, 6 mild obscenities, 2 derogatory references to Asians, name-calling (idiot, hooker, lesbian, immature, metrosexual, pimp, gay-woo, dumb, stupid, crazy, high), 6 religious profanities, 5 religious exclamations.

SUBSTANCE USE - A man smokes "Product Nine" in a scene set in 1927, becomes intoxicated and shouts, a man smokes a marijuana cigarette while driving and talking on a cell phone, telling different people that pot should be legalized, a man smokes marijuana several times while sitting by the side of the road in his car, two men smoke marijuana in the woods, while driving, up in a tree, and on streets and in alleys throughout the film, two men sell drugs to three middle school boys and all five smoke the drugs and get high in the school yard while one of the men tells the boys not to use hard drugs like cocaine, two men are shown in a surveillance van smoking from a hookah, and a man begins to light a bong on a city street and his friend tells him to stop. A man tells his girlfriend that he is not addicted to weed because he uses a bong that filters out the addictive impurities, she tells him he is addicted and addiction is bad and hangs up on him, in several conversations types of marijuana are discussed briefly, two people enter an apartment, one buys marijuana and the other asks for Percocet (there is none available), a man sells several varieties of marijuana, a wooden filing cabinet has 12 drawers filled with gallon sized bags full of green marijuana leaves, a coffee table with drawers is filled with quart-sized bags of leaves, and in underground bunker marijuana plants are shown growing under lights. A man drinks from a can of beer in three scenes and one dinner scene shows wine glasses filled with wine.
