"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME

Howard Stern's Private Parts | 1997 | R | - 8.2.8

The life and times of radio talk show host Howard Stern are immortalized on celluloid.

SEX/NUDITY 8 - Some kissing. Lots and lots of sexual innuendo (including references to incest, oral sex, S&M, the size of one's private parts and homosexuality). A boy simulates sex with his puppets. A couple of scenes with couples in bed making-out; they begin to undress but no nudity is seen. A couple take off some of their clothes (she's in her bra and he's in boxers) and they hop into bed to have sex (nothing is seen). A woman satisfies herself by touching her body in different places (we see her bare breasts). A lesbian orgy with topless women kissing and fondling each other. A woman simulates oral sex with a sausage. Full frontal nudity and the bare buttocks of a woman are seen as she gives a man a massage. Other scantily clad and topless women are seen in a few scenes, and men's bare buttocks in several scenes. A woman is apparently touching a man's crotch underwater while in a jacuzzi.

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A fake-looking student film shows a man being stabbed (some blood). A cigarette is put out on a man's tongue (during an S&M sequence). A man is hit in the face and head by a frisbee a few times. Two men struggle over a phone and the phone hits one in the face resulting in a bloody nose. A man is accidentally hit with a small statue.

LANGUAGE 8 - About 40 F-words, some scatological references, many mild obscenities, many anatomical references, a couple of racial slurs.

DISCUSSION TOPICS - Shock jocks, unpopularity, ambition, the media.

MESSAGE - Howard Stern seems to be a pretty nice person behind all the shocking talk.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
