"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME

Feast | 2006 | R | - 7.10.10

The winning film from the "Project Greenlight," which was created by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Chris Moore: A group of people in a bar in a desert are attacked by predatory, alien-looking creatures that are very cranky and very hungry. These creatures appear large and animal-like, with legs like dogs, heads like monkeys but with pronounced razor sharp teeth, and large, sharp claws; they wear the pelts and skulls of other animals and they growl, roar and squeal like pigs. With Jason Mewes, Henry Rollins, Krista Allen, Balthazar Getty and Navi Rawat. Directed by John Gulager. [1:35]

SEX/NUDITY 7 - Two creatures have sex (we see one thrusting into the other); they finish and one delivers a smaller creature in a gelatinous sack onto the ground. A creature thrusts rhythmically on a mounted deer head (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details). The reproductive organ of a creature is hacked off and flops on the floor -- it looks like a human penis with an attached scrotum (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details).
A man has sex with a woman (it appears to be coerced because he is her boss): she is bent over at the waist and we see him thrusting from behind her.
A woman wearing bra and panties (revealing cleavage and bare abdomen) washes blood off her chest and a man and a young man watch her with interest. A presumably dead body's ample cleavage is visible in several scenes. A woman wears a low-cut top that reveals cleavage and we can see the outlines of a woman's nipples through her shirt.
A woman in a bar prepares to go home with a man, and when she finds out that he is married she shoves him angrily.
A man makes a crude sexual comment to an elderly woman. A scroll on the screen describes an elderly woman as having recently performed oral sex on a rock star.

VIOLENCE/GORE 10 - There are numerous attacks by the creatures, and it is frequently difficult to make out exactly what is happening, apart from seeing a lot of blood and commotion.
A man's face is sliced off: we see the bloody tissue beneath his skin as he thrashes, and then he collapses and we see him dead several times after that. A man's eye is pulled out of the socket, and we see the blood covered stem as it is stretched and torn off. A woman's leg is cut off at the knee: she screams for an extended period of time and there is a lot of blood (she wraps her leg with a tourniquet and falls unconscious). A man in a bar, standing near a window, is yanked back through it by something from the outside; we hear snarling and gnashing and see the man's body jerking, and he falls back into the bar but without a head -- copious amounts of blood spray around the room and particularly on a woman who's standing nearby.
The reproductive organ of a creature is closed in a door, a woman hacks it off with a machete, the organ (it looks like a human penis with an attached scrotum) flops on the floor, flops down a flight of stairs, is squashed and sprays goo.
A creature grabs a boy, we hear gnashing and squishing, and the boy's mother screams as she watches the creature devour her son (we see thrashing and blood). A woman is shot in the chest, she gasps and falls out of a window and onto the ground below, whereupon two creatures pounce on her, cover her and devour her. A creature pulls a body out of a window, drags it on the ground, jumps on its head and begins to devour it (the body flops and twitches).
A man is gouged through the abdomen by a sharp claw, and he twitches and falls to the floor dead. A man is gouged through the abdomen by a creature that pokes up through the floor; the man screams, and people around him scream and panic. A creature squeezes a man's head between its hands and crushes it (it sprays blood and we hear a squish). A man is used as a battering ram and is slammed repeatedly into a door (blood sprays when his head is crushed). A woman opens a freezer door and is attacked and killed by a creature.
A man with a blood stained face, a shotgun and the severed head of a predatory creature (we see its sharp fangs) in his hands slams the head on a bar (we see tendrils of bloody tissue and hear squishy sounds). A man cuts a man's hand off with a machete.
A creature is shoved into a cooler, it is shot repeatedly, and it pokes a "finger" out of a bullet hole stabbing a man in the leg (we see blood and the man screams); the creature is shot several more times (we hear it squealing and see blood pour through a hole in the side of the cooler).
A man is sprayed with buckets of goo by a creature, the goo causes the man to begin to rot, we see him trying to wash the goo off, but there are maggots wriggling in his hair and as time passes his skin becomes discolored and deteriorates (a woman pokes the barrel of a gun into the man's face and it sinks through the skin). A woman lifts the bandage off a man's wounded eye and reveals a very bloody socket with wriggling maggots; the man pokes his finger into the hole and the maggots. What looks like the severed head of a monkey is scooped off a highway with a shovel.
A man throws a severed leg at a young man who catches it, and then drops it in disgust. A creature pulls the dead body of a man out of a window, and a woman pulls on the body and pulls a blood-soaked ring off one of the fingers (he was her husband).
While thrusting against the mounted head of a deer a creature is shot and it falls onto the floor. A creature is held on the floor by two men, a woman pounds on the creature using a gun butt, the creature's teeth are broken and the woman thrusts her fist into the mouth of the creature and through its head killing it.
A man pokes a stick into the remains of a creature, lifts it up (we see the blood-soaked carcass and hear squishing), holds it out of a window, and it is snatched away by two other creatures, which shake and poke at it trying to revive it; then another creature comes along and eats it (we hear crunching).
A creature's head is cut off by a spring trap (we hear a crunch). A man shoots a creature. A man with a stick strikes a creature in the head. A woman stabs a creature's arm as it pokes through a ceiling trying to grab her. A beer keg is rolled toward a creature and then shot, causing it to spray on the creature.
A man appears to be having a heart attack and he falls to the floor -- he has a large, bloody gash on his throat. A man is shot in the foot (we see blood dripping from his boot at one point. A man is startled by a bat and shoots it (blood and matter splatter).
A man is trapped in a room, a creature breaks into the room and comes toward him, and the man is let out just before being attacked. A young man in a wheelchair is knocked out of his chair and trapped under a piece of furniture. A body is dragged up a flight of stairs and the head thumps against the stairs a few times.
A creature pulls an animal skull off its head (it was wearing it as a mask) and we see its many very sharp teeth, and it roars and snaps.
A car crashes into something on a road, drives off and flips, and we see flames while a person struggles to get free (the scene ends). A dead body is rigged with explosives and prepared to be used as a diversion. Dead bodies are covered with tablecloths and piled in a basement. Something moves under the skin of a man.
A woman pulls an earring out of a man's ear tearing his ear lobe (we see blood). A woman pokes a man in the face with a fork a few times (he is unconscious). A woman punches, kicks and flips a man onto the floor then holds a knife to his throat while threading to slit him from throat to crotch.
A man and a woman hold guns on each other. A man's foot breaks through a floor as he walks through a room (he pulls himself back up).
We hear that a woman is going to rob a bar and we see her loading a pistol. A woman describes the creatures as "rotting jackals." Text on the screen describes the "life expectancy" of individual characters.
A man retrieves a set of keys from a mound of creature goo on the floor (we see goo and hear squishing). A woman vomits (we hear gagging and see goo).

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
