"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME
Clash of the Titans | 2010 | PG-13 | - 4.7.1
Loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Perseus (Sam Worthington), an illegitimate son of the god Zeus, who grows up as an ordinary fisherman, only to be thrust in a quest to save the city of Argos from a sea monster. To do so he has to travel to the underworld and bring back the head of Medusa, which is reputed to turn into stone any living creature that merely looks at it. Filmed previoulsy in 1982. Also with Pete Postlethwaite, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, Alexa Davalos, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson and Danny Huston. Directed by Louis Leterrier. [1:50]
SEX/NUDITY 4 - We hear about an ancient Greek god taking revenge on a man by impregnating his wife: we see the god (appearing to the woman as her husband) climbing into bed with her (she seems nude and we see her bare shoulders) and sex is implied; the god flies away when her enraged husband enters the room (we see the god's bare back, legs and buttocks).
► We hear about a god raping a woman and that then she was cursed by another god and to turn anyone who looks at her into stone.
► A man pins a woman to the floor and they briefly look at each other with interest. A woman attacks a man during a training exercise and she grabs his crotch off-screen.
► Women wearing low-cut dresses (bare shoulders and cleavage are visible) stand on a balcony overlooking a busy street; their behavior and demeanor seem to imply that that they may be prostitutes (e.g. they giggle in a flirtatious manner at men walking by). A man is shown bare-chested in several scenes. Men wear short kilts that reveal bare upper thighs. A woman's dress reveals bare thighs in a couple of scenes.

VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - Two men stand in a forest, we hear a crunch and realize that one man has been stabbed in the back and we see what looks like the attacker tear the man apart and throw the two pieces aside (no blood or much detail is visible).
► Several men fight with a man: he is shot with an arrow, he squeezes the heads of a few men (we hear crunching and yelling), he stabs several other men and throws them, and his hand is cut off (we see the severed hand and very dark blood dripping from the wound). Two men fight with swords, one man is stabbed in the leg, and he is run through and falls back dead.
► Several men enter a dark cave, flames burst up from a deep hole in the ground, a woman with snakes covering her head and a long snake tail slithers around the rocks trying to entice the men to look at her, and when some do, we see her face turn into a snake head with pointed teeth and glowing eyes and the men are turned to stone: the woman shoots arrows at the men, one man is struck (he breaks the arrow and pulls it out and a bit of blood is shown), three men fall over a ledge and one falls into a deep lava pit, and a few men look at the woman and turn to stone instantly (one falls over a ledge and breaks into pieces); some of the snakes on her head are severed, she wraps one creature with her tail and it explodes, a man stabs her tail and pins her to the ground, she screams, and another man lunges toward her and cuts off her head (we see her body twitch, stumble over a ledge and fall into lava below).
► Enormous scorpions emerge from underground and attack many men: they snap at the men with huge claws and lunge with spiked tails, a man is speared through the back, lifted into the air (he yells but there is no blood shown) and slammed to the ground, another man stabs a scorpion in the mouth and it drools a large amount of green goo on him, and other men are grabbed and slammed into the ground or columns; a man cuts a limb off one of the scorpions, one scorpion's stinger is cut off (we see it dangling), a man rides on the back of one scorpion and stabs it in the back with a spear killing it, and another scorpion is cut by a man who's inside the creature, and we see him covered with goo when he comes out.
► A woman is stabbed through the back and we see sharp points come through her chest as she is lifted in the air and thrown (we see her later lying on the ground, she turns into mist and floats away).
► A god appears in front of people, he forces them to kneel, he berates a woman and makes her age instantly (we see her skin bubble and become gray, we hear her skin sizzling and we see her lying motionless on the floor, presumably dead).
► The ocean floor rumbles, a large crack opens and an enormous monster with many pointed teeth and large claws comes out and swims toward a town, where a woman dangles over a cliff, offered as a sacrifice.
► A man's severed hand begins to move and transform into what later becomes a huge scorpion. A man puts his arm in a fire and we see it charred and smoldering.
► We see three witches that have no eyes and their faces are deeply wrinkled, their skin is ashen and they have pointed teeth and bony hands: one witch is shown holding a huge eyeball in her hand, a man takes the eyeball and we see him holding it by the eye stalk and threatening to drop it.
► Two men fight and one bites the arm of the other (we see a large bite mark on his arm later). A man's wounded arm begins to burn and turn dark (we hear sizzling, he moans loudly and falls to the ground).
► Many winged creatures come up out of the sea and fly toward soldiers on a cliff, attacking them: several are picked up off the ground, and some are thrown. Winged creatures chase a man through a village, one is grabbed by a group of people who kick and beat it, and another is snapped up by a huge scorpion. A number of winged creatures swirl around and change into a man surrounded by a black cloud; he throws a large ball of fire toward a ship in the sea, the ship is struck and sinks with four people inside -- one man tries desperately to get the others out but is unable and they sink out of sight.
► A man stabs another man (we hear a crunch) and the two are then crushed by a huge stone hand that falls on them.
► An enormous creature lunges toward a woman that's dangling over a cliff trying to eat her; it is stopped when it is shown the head of the Medusa, which starts turning it slowly into stone, and eventually it falls into the sea.
► Many beings that look as though they are made of tree bark and have glowing blue eyes appear and surround a group of men in a threatening manner. We see a man covered with a dark wrap and sitting in a dark cave and when the wrap is removed, we see his badly scarred and misshaped head and face.
► A woman falls into the sea and out of sight, a man dives in after her and we see them both unconscious on the beach later (they are OK).
► A man is struck by lightning and we see his charred and reddened skin. A god breathes a stream of fire into a man's mouth (presumably imbuing him with strength and other powers).
► A man is punched and beaten by three soldiers and held over a fire before they are stopped. A man strikes another man in the face. A soldier strikes a civilian in a crowd, as he questions what they are going to do.
► A creature (it looks like it is made out of tree bark with glowing blue eyes) places a glowing blue light near the wounded arm of a man, the man yells and writhes, and other men attack the creature and they fight briefly.
► Bands of black smoke slither into a crowded room, they swirl together into a ball of fire, and many soldiers are sucked into the fireball (we hear them screaming). Men standing at the entrance to the underworld watch as a ferryboat is pulled by two souls and navigated by a skeletal looking creature.
► A woman attacks a man during a training exercise, she grabs his crotch off-screen, he pins her to the floor and she pushes him away. A man trains another man to use a sword, they struggle and fight and one man holds his sword to the throat of the other and the practice ends.
► A coffin is pulled out of the sea and when opened we see a woman and an infant inside (the woman appears to be dead and the infant is alive and crying). A dead man is shown buried under rocks with his head visible and coins are placed on his eyes.
► We see a war scene where mortals lead a siege on Mt. Olympus against the ancient Greek gods (not much detail is clear). Soldiers with weapons escort a man to a palace, where he is questioned and locked in a cell.
► A man talks about murdering his wife and the child she carries as he throws a box, with the pregnant woman inside, into the sea. We hear about a god raping a woman and that then she was cursed by another god and to turn anyone who looks at her into stone. A god tells people that they will have to sacrifice someone in order to redeem themselves. A god tells another god to set mortals on each other in order to teach them a lesson. People discuss their displeasure with the gods and that they are not taking care of their needs in several scenes. A woman asks, "Should we be trembling and soiling ourselves?"
► People are shown riding on the backs of huge scorpions. Soldiers arm themselves for battle against the "kraken" and they talk about the agony and torment they will have to endure.
► A huge statue of a male god is cut off at the ankles and toppled over a cliff. We see people living in squalor in several scenes and appearing emaciated.
► A man breaks another man's flute when he doesn't play it well.
