VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - We hear two gunshots: an off-duty police officer shoots a man holding a shotgun in the face (we see a spray of blood from his face as his body falls to the ground and it is presumed he is dead), then runs across the road to discover an older man, dying and clutching a bleeding wound on his stomach; the older man appears to die as the man is speaking with him.
Three men holding shotguns emerge from the darkness of an abandoned farmhouse and fire at a man who escapes and runs into the woods; one of the gunmen races after the man and they wrestle, the gunman fires his gun multiple times, until the man pulls the gun away and shoots the man in the chest and neck and he leaves the man's dead body in a creek; the man runs to his truck as a second gunman shoots at him, he gets out of the truck and is shot in the stomach, and he shoots and hits the gunman (we see blood on the man's stomach and the gunman's head and chest); the gunman is slumped over and begs the man to kill him while telling him that he was hired to kill him and the injured man drives away; the third gunman approaches the dying second gunman and shoots him.
We see two men and a woman in an abandoned house, four police officers outside have guns drawn toward the house and we see one of the men inside the house fire; two officers fire at the house, hitting a man and he falls to the ground, clutching his stomach (we see blood on his hands); the woman inside the house fires a gun, hitting an officer who falls to the ground and two other officers rush to his aid; the injured man inside the house appears to die in the other man's arms.
A man, covered in blood (his chest and stomach obviously shot and wounded and blood covers his hands), falls out of a truck he is driving; he struggles to stand and wave down a car, he holds the driver at gunpoint and we see them driving down the road while the man is shown with blood on his chest, his hands are soaked from holding his injuries and we see him growing weaker. A police officer draws a gun and enters a house after seeing a bloody handprint on the open door; a woman (the owner of the house), follows the officer and finds her dying husband with his chest and arms soaked in blood from a gunshot wound (the man slowly dies).
An older man intimidates a man and warns him to stay away from the older man's foster daughter (the man's wife) and young daughter; he shoves the man's head against a counter and threatens his life if he goes around the woman and young girl, but offers that he will never harm the man, or even pinch his cheek, if he leaves the woman and girl alone.
A man grabs a woman's arm as she tries to run away and we see him in the passenger side of her car as she drives; we later see the man without the woman and it is presumed that the woman escaped unharmed. An older man threatens three men telling them that he will kill them if they harm a woman (the older man's foster daughter) and the woman's young daughter. A man grabs a woman's arm and she shakes him away; she then shoves the man away but he hugs her and they stop fighting.
We see a man and a woman in handcuffs being lead away from a crime scene and we see a dead man with a sheet covering his body on a gurney as his father identifies the body.
We hear glass breaking and a gunshot; a woman goes outside and finds boys holding a BB gun, she takes the gun, aims it and fires at something unseen, then dismisses the boys and no one is harmed. A man jumps from a second-story window to escape a police officer (he is unharmed). A truck squeals past another truck and we hear the smash of glass; it is implied that an unseen person in the second truck threw a bottle out the window at the first truck (no one is harmed).
A man hides in the attic of a house, holding a shotgun, as a police officer searches the downstairs; no one is injured and the officer leaves the house unharmed. A man picks up a sawed-off shotgun from behind a bar.
We hear a police radio call for backup. An older man tells a woman that his son had died, and that she is all he has left (he is her foster father). An older man tells a man that multiple people want another man dead. A man tells an older man that the older man's son had been the first person to shoot during a police shoot-out. A police officer tells a woman that her husband had escaped from prison after his fifth attempt and that the people he had escaped from prison with had been captured. We hear a woman's voiceover explain to her husband in a letter that she could not allow the man to find her at that time, but that she will find him in the future. A man tells another man that his wife would "rip through the house like fire" when they would fight, but that they would make up moments later. We see a newspaper article about a man being convicted of armed robbery and shooting a police officer. A man tells a woman that after he was shot as a police officer he felt like he was "punched in the shoulder" before hitting the ground. A woman half-jokingly tells her young daughter that her father would wrestle bears. CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
