► A teen boy’s pants bulge at the crotch from an erection. Teen girls wear tops that reveal cleavage and bare abdomens in several scenes.
Y2K VIOLENCE/GORE 8
– A teen boy tries to block a door closed, a blade is thrust through the door and his back and out his chest (we see blood on the blade and the teen’s chest and a smear on the wall behind him) and the teen falls to the floor and dies. Lights in a house flash, strange noises are heard, appliances make grinding sounds, a microwave shorts out and we hear a teen girl screaming from a room upstairs; we see a teen boy lying dead on the floor with a blade from a ceiling fan stuck in his head and blood all around and the teen girl is crouched against a wall and spattered with blood. A motorized car with a computer screen attached to it rolls into a room where teens try to figure out what’s happening; mechanical arms hold a can of hairspray and a lighter and spray flames onto a teen boy’s face (he collapses to the floor). A hand drill on wheels drills through a teen girl’s temple and blood pours from the wound as she screams. A blender is seen grinding a teen boy’s crotch (blood fills the blender). An electric shaver cuts a teen boy’s neck and face (blood sprays). A teen boy’s hand is stuck in a garbage disposal and we see his hand is missing and blood sprays when he pulls it out. A teen boy trips on a dishwasher door and lands with his head in a microwave and it smokes and sizzles. A teen boy is struck in the face and head by a CD player that shoots CDs; we see one stuck in his skull and the other in his cheek with blood at the wounds as he dies.
► A giant robot tries to cut teens using a saw; a man arms himself with two sticks and charges the robot and it cuts his arm off and then his head (we see them fall to the ground and blood sprays). A teen boy tries to skate on the pole of a fallen basketball hoop and falls hitting his head on a curb and dies (blood pools on the ground under him). Four teens stand on a cliff overlooking their town and we see everything in flames. A teen girl is grabbed around the throat by a robot arm and choked; a teen boy tries to attack the robot and it head-butts the teen knocking him out, and another teen boy pours water on the robot, shorting it out.
► A chip is implanted in a man’s temple and we see a screen depicting a serene setting that he is apparently seeing. Giant robots made of cobbled-together electronic devices walk through streets and buildings. A large structure built of electronic equipment collapses on the floor in a pile of rubble. Several scenes show people being rounded up by robots and held in a school’s gymnasium awaiting assimilation; we see other people seeming to be in a trance with a glowing implant in their temples. A teen boy slams a portable CD player against a tree and yells in frustration. People throw things at a man and a teen girl on a stage. A teen boy calls another teen boy a name and punches him in the crotch. A video player shoots a tape out and hits a teen girl in the head (we see a bruise). A teen girl punches a teen boy in the chest when he tries to take her camera.
► A man talks about many people dying at a concert. We hear a voice announcing that people will be going through an assimilation process and that “any attempt to escape will be met with violent death.” Several teens make fun of two other teens in several scenes calling them names and mocking them. Teens argue about types of music in several scenes. Several people yell, “Let’s break stuff,” and begin destroying electronic equipment in a store. A video game on a computer screen shows a character punching another character and the head of the second character pops off. A young girl makes the shape of an “L” (for loser) with her fingers against her forehead as a teen boy passes by.
► Several teens steal beer and liquor from a store and run away as the shop owner chases them. A teen boy breaks a lock on a liquor cabinet and drinks from a bottle of liquor. Many teens in a house are seen drinking and smoking cigarettes and marijuana at a party. A man takes two teens into a separate room in a video store (adult movies are on display there) and smokes a drug from a small pipe before sharing with one of the teens that quickly seems to be feeling the effects of the drug.
► Four people hide in a portable toilet from a robot threatening them and the toilet slides down a hill splashing them all with urine and waste (we see the waste); they cough and gag when they climb out. A teen tells a story about urinating in another teen’s soda can and the second teen drank some of it not knowing.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
