Soul Plane | 2004 | R | - 9.3.9

A man (Kevin Hart) who is awarded $100 million in a lawsuit against an airline decides to use the money to make something of himself. He decides to start an airline of his own, which will cater to African-Americans, complete with sexy stewardesses, funky music and an onboard dance club. The first flight is a bumpy one when the pilot turns out to be Snoop Dogg, and Tom Arnold and his family are passengers. Also with Kevin Hart, K.D. Aubert, Method Man, K.D. Aubert, Godfrey, Brian Hooks and D.L. Hughley. Directed by Jessy Terrero. [1:27]

SEX/NUDITY 9 - A man and woman come into a restroom, the man drops his pants (another man is in the room watching but leaves), he puts the woman on a table, she wraps a belt around his neck and pulls it tight, she puts her legs up over his shoulders, she hits him with the tail of the belt, and he thrusts and they both moan. A man and a woman have sex on a lowered landing gear while the plane is flying (we see her thrusting on top of him and he is blindfolded and tied to the gear). A visually impaired man sticks his finger in a baked potato and talks about climaxing (he thinks he is talking to a woman) while many people around him watch and listen. A man lifts a woman's skirt and performs oral sex on her (we see his head go under her skirt), then he drops his pants, she gets on top of him and they begin having sex. A woman covers a man with a blanket, then tucks her head under the blanket where she is presumably performing oral sex on him. A man and a woman kiss a few times. A woman hands a man her panties and he sniffs them. A woman talks about how she used to have sex with a man in a cockpit and shows the different positions she would be in (she lifts her legs toward two men, we see her panties and one man licks her thigh, she raises her buttocks in the air near a man's face, and she climbs on a man's lap). Two women and a man do a suggestive dance during an in-flight safety presentation. A woman describes a situation where a lover "lost" a part of his anatomy and a gay man says "I'll help him find it." A gay man talks about another man having "tasted like chocolate." A woman makes a reference to performing oral sex on a man. A man talks about two men having sex. Several gay men (a couple dressed like women) charge toward the cockpit of a plane when an announcement is made about a man "draining the monster." A man talks about a woman having vocal cord damage after performing oral sex on a man with a large endowment. A gay man rubs against a man and the man says "did you just grind on me?" A gay man flirts with another man, and a man flirts with a woman. A female airport security guard wands a man's crotch, caresses him (saying "you feel wonderful") and asks "what you got in there?" then takes him to an interrogation room where she makes him remove his pants (we see him bare-chested and in his underwear) and then to drop his underwear so that she can perform a "cavity check." An exotic dancer wears a bikini that reveals cleavage and part of her bare buttocks. A young woman's father begins to describe a sexual position. A 17-year-old young woman talks about a litany of sexual positions and activities to her father and that when she turns 18 she can "have sex." An announcement is made for all the "players" to come to a party for a girl who is turning 18. People talk about the "mile high club." People talk about the extreme size of a man's endowment (a woman reacts to a photo of him in a magazine, he talks about how his underwear fits, etc.). A gay man wears lipstick, acts effeminately and makes sexual remarks to and about other men. A visually impaired man touches women on the buttocks and breasts several times. A man sits in a hot tub with three women and one pinches his nipple. A man admires women's buttocks as they walk past him (some with low-cut pants, some with tight, short skirts). There is a reference to a boy not being seen after directing a Michael Jackson music video. A woman falls over a table, her skirt lifts up and we see her panties. A man drops his pants to use the toilet while another man is in the room with him (nothing sexual is suggested) and he flatulates several times. A man drops his pants to use the toilet (we see his Jockey underwear). Women wear tight-fitting, low-cut outfits that reveal cleavage, bare abdomens, bare shoulders and backs, and bare thighs throughout the movie.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - The luggage compartment is opened while a plane is in flight, luggage falls out of the back of the plane and a dog is sucked into one of the engines (a man watches and screams). A man throws a dog in a pet carrier out the door of a boarding ramp (we hear the dog whimper). A man slips on a wet floor, falls (we hear a crunch) and lies motionless on the floor. A man eats hallucinogenic mushrooms, has an attack and falls unconscious (people think he is dead). An airplane loses altitude fast and people scream and panic. Two women (security guards) hold tasers on either side of a man's head and threaten him. An airplane flies low, over houses. A man burps, flatulates, runs to the bathroom, flatulates several times while having a bowel movement and when he flushes he is sucked into the toilet and is unable to free himself -- we see him later on a stretcher with a block of ice on his backside. Several people vomit in bags. A serving of Beef Stroganoff bubbles and looks disgusting.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
