Animated tale about a pair of sneakers (voiced by Anthony Mackie & Chloe Bailey) destined to help a young man fulfill his dreams of playing basketball. When the sneakers are stolen and separated, they must figure out a way to get back together and find the young man. Sneaks SEX/NUDITY 1
– A teen girl texts a teen boy about seeing him at a party later. A teen boy trips and falls in front of a teen girl that he seems to like; they flirt awkwardly. Many assorted shoes dance and sing under a dining table at a gala.
Sneaks VIOLENCE/GORE 2
– A man tries to buy a pair of sneakers from a teen boy that has just won them and the teen refuses; the man tries to grab the box out of the teen’s hands and a woman throws a ball at the man, telling him to go away. A sneaker is cut in half off-screen by a man with a cutting device attached to a long metallic arm; it is implied that the shoe dies when another shoe says, “Rest in peace.” A dog charges into a room barking and sneakers scatter and try to get away from it; the dog is stuck in the legs of a chair and eventually a large cake drops on it and the dog eats its way out from under the confection. Many sneakers and shoes run through a dark park and are chased and threatened by rats with sharp teeth and claws; shoes call out, “Laces out” and “Stilettos out,” before they fight off the rats and we see some rats lying motionless on the ground. Two sneakers climb to the top of a statue to evade many rats chasing them and they jump as a skateboard passes by.
► A man wearing a suit that has numerous metallic arms with tools at the ends attacks another man; one man pulls the other man’s mask off his face and he remarks about a facial deformity or injury of some sort that we do not see. A man wears a suit that has numerous metallic arms with tools at the ends like a hairdryer, a sprayer, a saw and scissors. Sneakers play basketball and push each other on the court; one sneaker falls down but doesn’t appear injured. A basketball player takes a shot during a game and trips falling hard on the court; other players laugh at him and point when his shoe has fallen off.
► A sneaker shouts, “Once more into the breach my friends,” as along with other sneakers prepares to run through a park at night and fight off many rats. A sneaker tries to open a trash chute with its shoelace but is unable to and falls to the floor. A sneaker yells and panics when he gets a pebble stuck in his sole and another sneaker pulls it out. A sneaker cringes when a rat runs past him. A sneaker lets go of a power line above a street and lands hard on the sidewalk below (he’s OK). Two sneakers are thrown and land on top of a moving bus. A sneaker slips on a banana peel and falls on the ground but doesn’t seem injured. Sneakers yell and are flung around while on the back of a speeding motorcycle. Sneakers yell and are flung around when riding on a skateboard as it speeds through alleys, and city streets in a few scenes; a couple of scenes show rats trying to cling onto the board. A dog climbs through an apartment window followed by a man and the man steals a pair of sneakers and speeds away on a motorcycle. A woman drives a car erratically and swerves through traffic in city streets causing other cars to brake and honk. Single sneakers are seen dangling from power lines above a city street. We hear the rumbling and sounds of subway trains in a city.
► Sneakers threaten each other aggressively in a few scenes; one sneaker tells another, “Your mama was from Payless.” A sneaker says that he’s better off alone. Sneakers talk about having PTSD and define it as “pretty terrible sun damage.” A sneaker complains about having been worn and says, “He put his foot inside me.” A sneaker talks about wanting to be used instead of being put on a shelf like a trophy. Sneakers talk about being valued and worshipped.
► A sneaker is cleaned, buffed and deodorized before being placed on a pedestal. A dog is seen to have very sharp teeth and a long tongue and it snarls and snaps at people and sneakers in several scenes. A dog snatches a hot dog from a boy’s hand and eats it. A man tries to wake up a dog and shakes it by the collar (it continues sleeping). Many assorted shoes are shown gathered under a dining table at a gala.
► A sneaker gags and vomits a dirty gym sock. A sneaker complains of the smell in a gym bag and gags a few times (does not vomit). A dog acts as if it’s going to vomit and swallows hard. A dog lifts its leg next to a flowerpot and we hear a trickle (we do not see urine). A sneaker is splashed with mud from a city street.
