SEX/NUDITY 4 - A man puts his girlfriend over a table and lays on top of her kissing her passionately. Some talk about erotic passion and veiled references to sex. Sarandon and Shepard kiss passionately as he lays on top of her and unzips her sweatshirt.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man pokes his finger with a knife until it bleeds. A dog barks ferociously and almost attacks two people who beat the dog off with papers; when the dog lunges for them, one character takes it down by nearly choking it to death. A brief scene on television of a bombed building and a body being taken from the wreckage.
LANGUAGE 5 - Two F-words, two scatological terms, and several milder obscenities.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Motherhood, military conflicts, siblings, large families, independence.
MESSAGE - Family is most important; even when life doesn't turn out as you planned, you can still be happy.
