Why is “A Minecraft Movie” rated PG? The MPAA rating has been assigned for “violence/action, language, suggestive/rude humor and some scary images.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes some flirting, a marriage proposal, a woman talking about being divorced, many encounters between humans and beings from other worlds that lead to fighting with swords and explosives without visible injuries, a chicken cooked in molten lava, discussions of failure and being broke, discussions of doing what makes you happy, several arguments and yelling, and some strong language. A Minecraft Movie SEX/NUDITY 1

 – A woman and a block-shaped being speak lovingly and he asks her to marry him; she accepts. After hitting a block-shaped being with her car, a woman asks him to go to dinner with her. A man and a woman seem to be flirting in a couple of scenes and when he leaves, he says that anyone that would divorce her is crazy. Two men fly together toward a tunnel and must take a suggestive position to be able to fit through the opening; they hold each other with their faces at each other’s crotches, referred to as a “full-man sandwich.”
► A woman talks about being divorced in several scenes.
► A man describes some clothing in a storage bay as “unisex blouses.” A man wears a tank T-shirt that reveals his bare shoulders and partial chest throughout the movie. A man’s pants pull down when he bends over and part of his buttock cleavage is revealed.

A Minecraft Movie VIOLENCE/GORE 4

 – Flaming arrows are shot by skeletons riding on the backs of giant spiders and they chase people. A man punches a cube-shaped creature and it glows and explodes, throwing the man through the air. Several cube-shaped zombies seem to be tearing a sheep apart (we see tufts of fluff being pulled out of it and it bleats). A man is accidentally struck in the face with a metal bucket and falls back onto a table breaking it; another man is struck in the crotch and falls on the ground, and then struck in the face when swinging two buckets like nunchakus. Two women use a shovel and a hoe to dispatch attackers. Two men and a teen boy run up a structure chased by attackers and one man and the teen fall off the ledge toward raging waves below but fly away with special wings attached to their backs; the third man jumps off the ledge and rides on the first man’s back. As three people fly away from attackers, they are shot at by the attackers as they fly in a balloon type vehicle; one vehicle crashes and explodes, a teen boy’s legs are grabbed by an attacker; the three people crash into a puddle on the ground and roll (uninjured). A block-shaped security officer is reprimanded for failing and when he is zapped, we see a flash and a smoldering pork chop is left on the ground. A man steps on a booby trap and he is struck by several pointed spherical weapons, thrown through the air, crashes hard on the ground and groans in pain. Two men and a teen boy ride in mine cars along tracks while being chased by a large monster; they stop when they run out of energy; they manage to escape the mine and an explosion blows up behind them. An explosive is launched at a teen boy on top of a structure and the teen falls; he is grabbed by a man on a flying vehicle as the structure explodes and crumbles. Many attackers burst into flames when the sunlight strikes them.
► A teen boy walks through a dark building, chased by guards carrying axes; two axes are thrown and stick into a door as the teen closes it (he is unharmed); the boy continues through the building and being with glowing eyes approaches him from behind and causes him to imagine people being cruel to him and disparaging him.
► A small block-shaped zombie (seemingly a child), jumps into a fighting ring to face a man, he jumps toward the man and knocks him down, a chicken bites the man on the leg, the man’s head is slammed into a pole, the man hits the attacker with the ring rope and knocks him across the ring and causing him to cry; the man approaches to console him and the attacker bites his hand and the man throws the attacker out of the ring.
► Large, robot-like guards march toward many attackers and they fight; the guards throw the attackers and the attackers try to shoot them with arrows. A man throws several balls that turn into chickens when they hit a witch. A witch tries to stab a man three times and he knocks the blade out of her hand unharmed.
► A block-shaped chicken is shown in a containment tube as lava is poured from above it; we then see a cooked chicken placed on a counter; a man pulls a leg off the chicken and takes a bite (he and another man complain of how hot it is). A zombie creature is thrown over a wall and lands on the ground with twisted limbs, but revives; several other zombie creatures crowd around a man, he is pulled inside a building and the zombies follow him and threaten several other people inside causing them to scream until a man attacks them, stabbing them through the backs, throwing them through the air and when the sun comes up the creatures burst into flames. A bridge explodes and a man and a teen boy are thrown through the air on a hot air balloon. A laser shoots into the sky and causes clouds to cover the sky and make everything dark.
► A witch orders her security detail to find a man and kill him; they go to a village and destroy market stalls, dumping items on the ground, villagers run away, arrows are shot and one villager is struck in the nose and turns into a chicken. A security officer tells a man that he needs to “unalive him.” A man describes attackers as having the ability to fry your brains if you look them in the eyes.
► A man and a wolf walk through a portal that takes them to a dark realm called “the nether,” where a witch rules over block shaped people with pig snouts that dig for gold. Zombie-type creatures loom around outside in the dark, the roar and pound on the windows of a house where a man is hiding. A large wolf with large red eyes approaches a man and becomes friendly when the man offers the animal a bone. A man and a wolf are captured and placed in a cell; the wolf gets keys from a guard and they escape and the man stays and sends the wolf away to safety. A teen boy holding a glowing cube is pulled into a glowing portal and a man follows him, followed by two women and they each crash into the other. A witch stabs a small being with a dagger and the small being disappears. A man threatens a witch with a sword and the witch threatens his pet wolf. A block creature is struck by a car and thrown to the ground; he does not appear injured (please see the Sex/Nudity category for more details). A man digs in the wall of a cave and finds a glowing cube that when put inside a glass box glows brighter and transports him to another realm filled with block-shaped creatures. A man shows a teen boy and another man his armory filled with weapons including TNT, rockets and blades.
► A man threatens to crack another man’s head with his “butt cheeks” and the camera focuses on the man’s clothed buttocks as he clenches. A man yells and throws items around a storage unit. A man receives an eviction notice and is upset when his car breaks down later; he yells while standing outside his car on the side of the road. A teen boy builds a rocket with items he finds in a school, another boy sabotages the rocket and when it is launched, it crashes into a potato chip factory and knocks a large potato mascot off the roof and into a river below. A teen boy flies using a jetpack and lands safely.
► A man comes out of a mine and yells at a young boy standing outside, then chases him away (the man is missing teeth). A man faces another man at the entrance of a mine; each holding pickaxes, one man charges toward the other and one darts around the other to get inside the mine. A man jumps into the air to catch a Frisbee in his mouth while playing with his wolf. A man builds a mine entrance in a plate of mashed potatoes. A woman’s car has several animals in it (an alpaca, a goat and others) and it is labeled a zoo on wheels. A young block-shaped creature dances on a stage and others in an audience laugh at her; her father reprimands her and sends her to dig gold causing her to denounce all creativity. A block-shaped sheep spits goo on the ground (we see a splat of goo on the ground). A man says that he craves heat and pain before taking a bite of a chicken leg that was cooked in lava; the man whimpers and his eyes water from the pain of the temperature of the meat.
► A principal threatens a teen boy with expulsion after he crashes a rocket into a nearby factory. We hear that a woman died and wished that her two children would move to Idaho. A teen boy in school says, “Math has been debunked.” A man says that he always carries a block of Gorgonzola in his pocket. A man says that he almost died fighting an “Enderman.”
