Heartbreakers | 2001 | PG-13 | - 6.5.5

A mother (Sigourney Weaver) and daughter (Jennifer Love-Hewitt) join forces to con rich men into marriage, and then find a way to get a quick divorce, too (all for the love of money). Also with Gene Hackman, Anne Bancroft, Nora Dunn, Jeffrey Jones and Ray Liotta. [2:02]

SEX/NUDITY 6 - Some kissing, some of it passionate. Lots of sexual innuendo (including references to genitalia, being dominated, multiple partner sex, mother-daughter sex with one man). Mostly scenes are played for laughs. A man puts his hand on a woman's clothed buttocks while dancing. A woman puts her tongue in a man's ear (we see a close-up of this). A woman takes off her dress and is standing in tight transparent undergarments. A woman rips open a man's shirt and pants and looks at his penis and says, "Oh my God!" (we don't see what she sees). While on top of her in bed, a man rips open a woman's undergarment with a knife and begins kissing her bare legs and clothed belly. A man pours ice down his pants (to calm an erection). A woman hugs a man and hikes her skirt up. We can see the bare bottom of a woman's buttocks when she bends over (she's in a short skirt). A man and woman kiss passionately, with the woman jumping on the man with her legs wrapped around his hips. Then she unzips his pants and proceeds to perform fellatio on him (this act takes place behind a desk, so nothing is visible); then the woman's hair gets caught in the man's zipper and her head bobs back and forth (the motion implying oral sex) while trying to release it. Two women discuss having a ménage-à-trois with a man. A man goes into a boat with six women and another woman comments that he's going to have sex with all of them at once. A woman rubs her clothed breasts into a man's shoulder. A woman asks a man if she can "grab his nuts" and then she dips into a bowl of peanuts and eats them seductively -- a woman also sucks on an olive suggestively in front of a man. We see a woman's bare breast in a painting and we see several shots of a naked male statue, with genitals and an erect penis. A woman rubs and caresses the statue and makes sexy noises, as if she's turned on by it; a man falls into the statue, knocking the penis off and getting it stuck in his mouth; the man dies and we see him with both an erect penis of his own and the statue's erect penis in his mouth. A man speaking Russian (but we see the subtitles) asks a woman if he can "tickle [her] with my big Russian sausage." A man in tight briefs is blindfolded and tied to four bed posts, evidently ready to engage in S&M. A woman tells a man she'll sit on his face. A mother has her daughter feel her clothed buttocks. Lots of cleavage and women in skimpy outfits.

VIOLENCE/GORE 5 - Mostly played for laughs. An alligator jumps out of the water and eats a swimming bird. One woman trips another woman and a man hits a naked statue on the breast with his cane. A man falls into a statue, knocking the statue's penis off and getting it stuck in his mouth; the man dies. A corpse is dropped several stories off a balcony and slams into the ground; the corpse is then put in a car trunk. A woman punches a man in the face and a woman chokes another woman. A car crashes into a tree, another car crashes into the previous car, and then a third car crashes into the first two (no one is seriously hurt, but airbags inflate). A woman hits a man over the head several times with various objects (a cane, a golf club). A parrot dies from secondhand smoking, falling off the swing in its cage. A man pulls out a gun and threatens to kill two women but doesn't. A woman vomits, and a woman spits at another person.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
