After a couple decides to adopt a stray cat their lives become radically different, and their relationship is tested while time and reality do not seem fixed any longer. With Miranda July, Hamish Linklater and David Warshofsky. Directed by Miranda July. [1:31]

SEX/NUDITY 6 - A woman appears to be sexually stimulating herself by rubbing against a sofa while a man watches her and pulls down her underwear; we hear a zipper and it is implied that the man is unzipping his pants (the woman's bare buttocks are seen), and it is implied that the man is putting on a condom and that they have sex when we hear the woman moaning sexually.
Sex is implied when we see a man and a woman sitting on the ground: the man is shirtless, the woman touches the man's chest and he makes a crude remark about the woman being interested in having sex with him. Sex is implied when we see a man and a woman lying on a sofa; the man's legs are wrapped around the woman and she is lying on his chest. A woman climbs into bed with a shirtless man (his bare chest is visible), the man tells the woman that they will have sex, and sex is implied (we later see the man sleeping with his arms around the woman).

A woman leans against a man, she puts her hands on the man's shoulder, and then his face; they are about to kiss and the woman pulls away. A man puts his hand on a woman's knee, the woman puts her hand on his hand, the man attempts to kiss the woman, and she pulls away.
On multiple occasions we see a man and a woman lie in bed together, fully clothed; the man rests his head on the woman's chest, the man's arm is wrapped around the woman, and the woman rests her head on the man's chest. A man wraps his arms around a woman's waist and holds her as they stand up.
A woman wears a low-cut shirt. A woman wears a form-fitting leotard. A man walks around a house wearing boxer-style underwear and a T-shirt. A woman watches an Internet video of a young woman dancing and wearing a midriff-exposing top. A woman watches multiple Internet videos of two young women wearing midriff exposing tops and tight-fitting pants while dancing. We see a girl in a bathtub, being watched over by a woman (no nudity is visible).
A woman kisses a man. On multiple occasions we see a man and a woman kissing lightly on the lips.
An elderly man reads a sexual limerick about a man becoming sexually aroused.

A girl looks very upset, to the point of tears, and a woman picks her up and carries her away. We see a man place his hand on a woman's head to "freeze" her and she pauses and kneels on the ground. A man rips a piece off a telephone dramatically and throws it on the ground.
A veterinarian warns a man and a woman that when they are changing a cat's IV bag (for treating renal failure), a "drop or two" of blood might appear on the cat's fur. A veterinarian tells a man and a woman that a cat could survive multiple years with illness if treated properly. A woman asks a veterinarian if a cat will die after six months. A woman tells a man that she believes a pet clinic would euthanize a cat. A man tells a woman that his mother and his wife's mother had died. A woman hypothetically poses a question to a man about what they would do if they were going to die in the next thirty days. A woman tells a girl, buried in a ditch up to her neck, that she cannot urinate inside the ditch; the girl tells the woman that she will urinate in the ditch if needed.
In a voiceover from a cat, the cat explains that it had been euthanized and had died. In a voiceover, a cat says that it had been found by a man and a woman with its paw injured and bloody. In a voiceover, a cat says that it didn't know if it was going to be dead or alive. A cat says in a voiceover that it experienced extreme cold and loneliness.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
