VIOLENCE/GORE 8 - Lots of explosions, lots of fights with punches, kicks and sometimes with blood. A man's nose is rammed into his brain and there is blood on his face as he dies. Two men pull needles out of their hands. A man pulls out a fishing wire embedded in his mouth. A man sets another on fire with lighter fluid. Two attempted rapes: once the rapist begins fondling a woman through her clothes and talks about raping her, and another time he knocks her unconscious and begins taking down her pants. A corpse is trapped in the landing gear (no blood); the corpse falls many feet to shatter a car and we see his face through the windshield. A plane crashes through buildings resulting in deaths and bloodshed. A man is thrown through glass and then decapitated with a pile driver. A man has his arm broken and is impaled during a fight (some blood). A man has his neck broken with some blood on his face. We see brain matter when a man is shot in the head. Lots of gunshots with lots of spurting blood and squishy sounds. A corpse with blood on the chest. An arm is left hanging in cuffs when a corpse is taken down. A man is stabbed in the ankle with a hook.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
