Black Crab VIOLENCE/GORE 7

 – A woman gets out of a car, is approached by another woman, and the first woman stabs a man in the knee when he moves toward her and shoots the woman; she slides under the car and continues shooting other people before getting into the car and speeding away (we see some blood splattering with gunshot strikes). We hear a news report about violence and civil unrest as cars stop at an entrance to a tunnel; we hear gunshots and see armed soldiers moving out from the tunnel shooting people, a person is shot and falls on the hood of a car (blood splatters) as a woman and her teen daughter scramble inside the car to hide but a soldier breaks the window and pulls the young girl away as her mother screams; we see later that the woman was dragged out of the car and punched in the face (we see blood on her face and the ground).

A woman is surrounded by armed guards, she stumbles toward a cliff, falls over the side and we see an explosion when the grenade she was holding explodes.
A helicopter flies toward a house where people are hiding, it fires a rocket at it and blows it up, and the people inside hide nearby and shoot at armed soldiers walking nearby. A helicopter circles over several people skating on a frozen body of water; they dodge the bullets and slide under a pier to hide. Bombs land around a base and we see flames shoot up as people gather gear and run out into woods and are shot at; they exchange fire and a man is shot (we see blood splatter on a woman’s face). A man opens a canister containing a weapon and others hold guns on him; he asks, “Are you going to shoot me?” Five people hold guns on a man and a woman in a building where they talk and sit down together; later gunfire erupts and the two people are shot dead with blood splatter, one of the others is shown dead with a bloody wound in his eye and another is injured (we see a bloody abdominal wound). A woman crashes through ice and sinks underneath the surface; another woman jumps through the hole in the ice and reaches the woman to retrieve her pack (the first woman appears dead) and when she emerges from the water she shakes from the extreme cold (please see the Sex/Nudity category for more details); we later see her feet with evidence of frostbite on her toes. A woman holds a gun on a man and another man holds him around the throat on the floor with a knife to his neck when they suspect him of being a traitor. A woman attacks another woman and hits her in the face knocking her to the floor before being pulled away (we see blood on the woman’s nose and mouth). People find a ferry partially submerged in frozen water and board it; one man with a bloody wound sits on the floor and we hear a gunshot off-screen (we later see the man with a gunshot wound to the head and blood splattered on and around him from an apparent suicide). People skate on very thin ice and we hear it cracking and see it opening enough to let water through; a woman falls on the ice and removes her pack until others arrive to throw her a rope. Three people skate across very thin ice tethered together and when one man falls a woman pulls him by the rope to safety as a gunman on a ridge opens fire on them; one man shoots back at the ridge and the shooting stops. A woman stumbles through blowing snow and falls to her knees when she sees several armed men on horses approaching her. A woman winces in pain and says that her stitches ruptured as she moves through a building while alarms blare.
Three people are shown hanging in an underpass with the word “Deserter” painted on the wall near them. People skating on frozen water come upon things sticking out of the ice and we see partially submerged people frozen in the ice with faces and limbs sticking out from the surface. When arriving at a base a woman in a car is told to get out with her hands in the air, she does so and we see many armed people in the area, as well as others placing bodies in bags in fires. A man holds a gun on a woman and tells another woman to get in a vehicle. A man and a woman argue and he holds a skate blade toward her. Several people skate across a frozen body of water and see tracer fire in the distance as bombs float through the air; they pass a crashed plane frozen in the ice. A woman takes a scalpel from a medical tray and holds it behind her back as a staff person bandages her fingers.

A woman tells another woman that her husband won’t be back and that she should not wait for him. A man worries about his girlfriend when he hears about a base being bombed. A man asks a woman if her family is still alive and she says that she doesn’t know. A woman tells her teenage daughter that the city is burning and that ash is falling from the sky when the daughter asks if it is snow. We hear that an area was completely bombed out and that there were 3500 people killed. A man tells several people that the enemy is approaching, will reach them soon and that they are losing the war, before being given a mission.
A woman is shown bandaged in a hospital bed and we hear that a few of her toes were amputated. A flashback shows a woman getting into a car where she sees two dead and very bloody bodies in the backseat. A man drives through a bombed out area and we see people living in tents and disheveled. CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
