Why is “The Adam Project” rated PG-13? The MPAA rating has been assigned for “violence/action, language and suggestive references.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes an implied sex scene, a couple of passionate kissing scenes and some flirting, several references to a person being murdered, a few airborne chase scenes with gunfire exchanged, many fight scenes with gunfire exchanged and hand-to-hand combat, a few explosions that flip cars, several threats of violence, and 2 not fully enunciated F-words and other strong language. A time-traveling pilot (Ryan Reynolds) trying to fix a time paradox, lands by accident in 2022 and meets his 13-year-old self (Walker Scobell).  – A man flying a jet is chased by another jet that shoots at him (we see blood on the man’s abdomen from a bullet wound); the man engages a device that creates a wormhole that his jet disappears through leaving the other one behind. A woman in a jet hovers over a woman on the ground, the jet’s weapons are engaged and we hear the weapons discharge but do not see the result.
► A woman points a gun at two men and a teen boy, she pulls the trigger and the gun discharges but the bullet is pulled toward a reactor, passing through another woman and throwing her back (no blood is shown). Armed men fire into a house and at a man inside; he fights with them using a taser device and many punches and kicks and zaps are exchanged until the man slams the device into the ground and blows several of the man back with a blast; a large jet hovers over them and a woman inside threatens to kill the man. Two men fight with taser weapons, punches, throws and kicks as a jet aims its weapons at one of the men; a woman on the ground shoots at the jet and several men on the ground and fights others (when the armed men are struck, they break up into glowing particles); the woman, one of the men and a teen boy run through a forest, into a car and speed away chased by the jet that shoots at them from the sky, hitting a truck on the road and causing a large explosion. Armed men on hover boards chase and shoot at a car speeding through a forest until one crashes into the car’s door when it is opened and the other is struck by a falling tree. A woman loads a gun and holds a detonator that she flips as a car approaches and it is blown into the air in flames; one man crawls out of the wreckage and the woman shoots at him. A man is surrounded by many armed soldiers and a teen boy controls a drone that causes explosions on the ground, disabling the soldiers, and shoots an approaching car that flips over; two other cars slams together pinning another guard between them and nearly hitting a man and the driver of one of the cars argues with the nearly struck man briefly. A jet hovers behind a teen boy and we later see the child being held with a gun to his head. A woman shoots a gun and the bullet cracks a containment field and all metal objects are sucked into the whirring mechanism; a man is pulled against the remaining glass and grabs a teen boy as he goes until the boy frees himself. Two men fight with punches, throws and kicks, a teen boy gets a weapon and threatens one man but is knocked unconscious and the man is struck in the head by a large piece of metal.
► A man punches another man in the face and we see blood in his mouth; the second man then punches the first man with no evident injury (the second man says he thinks he broke his hand). A teen boy runs out of a classroom, and bumps into other students in a hallway while being chased by two other boys; the boy is slammed against a wall, punched in the face (his nose bleeds) and punched in the abdomen. A teen boy slams another teen boy against a wall and then punches him in the face (his nose bleeds); the injured boy runs away and a man pushes the bully against the wall and threatens that he will pull all his bones out if he ever harms the first boy again (the boy urinates on himself and we hear a trickle).
► A teen boy plays a VR game and the power goes out; his dog runs into a forest, he follows and finds damage and sparks fluttering around some trees, he panics and runs back home when he hears noises and finds a man with a bloody abdominal wound in a shed and tries to hit him, unsuccessfully, with a baseball bat a couple of times.
► A jet lights up in a tree canopy and a hovering platform lowers to the ground where a man and a teen boy step on and ride it up to the jet. Two jets speed through the air shooting at each other and one flies through a narrow mountain pass where the pilot turns off the jet and hides as the other passes and cannot track him. A reactor melts down and the structures around it begin to collapse as three people run out of the area and jump into an elevator to get away.
► A woman yells at a school official for suspending her son for fighting. A woman yells at her teenage son for getting into a fight and for the way he talks to people. A teen boy talks to a stranger in his house saying that he fears having to go to counseling to talk about “where the bad man touched me.” A man talks about teenagers being “like urinal cakes that yell at you.” A man talks about a woman having had someone killed. A woman says that she had someone killed twice. A man jokes about wanting to hold a teen boy “underwater until the bubbles stop.” Two women argue about unethical business practices. A man describes a “meltdown that would destroy all living things within 100 miles.”
► A man raises his shirt and we see a very bloody bullet hole in his abdomen. A man jokes about a bullet hole making a flatulent noise when he coughs and we hear it a couple of times. A man is shown with a burned and scarred face.
