When her husband of 24 years suddenly asks for a divorce, a woman (Melissa McCarthy) decides to go back to college and finish her degree. Things are awkward for her daughter (Molly Gordon), who attends the same college and they have to figure out their new relationship. SEX/NUDITY 5 - A woman and a young man in a library touch each other's hands and she touches his thigh; they look at each other and the scene cuts to them disheveled and adjusting their clothing while standing between bookshelves (sex is implied), they kiss, she squeezes his clothed buttock and they leave. A husband and his wife peek out of a bathroom window and we see their bare shoulders and upper chest (sex is implied).
 A woman invites her husband to have sex with her in various locations in several scenes ("Let's go make love in the bathroom," etc.). A man smells a woman's hand and asks what she is wearing; the woman replies and the man says, "That turns me on." A young man asks a woman to meet him in the garage in 20 minutes and she agrees, but then changes her mind. A young man and a young woman hug and a woman says, "Get a room." A woman leaves a fraternity house room where it is implied that she had sex with a young man, as her daughter leaves another room where she too apparently has had sex with a young man; the woman talks about her sexual encounter, causing her daughter to feel uncomfortable. Several people talk about a woman having sex with another woman's college-aged son.
 Young men and a young women dance at a party with thrusting hips; a woman dancing with a young man pulls his shirt off (he's wearing a T-shirt) and they later dance a slow dance holding each other closely. A young woman dances at a party and thrusts her hips and chest to a cheering crowd.
 A woman tells her daughter that the woman's husband is having a sexual relationship with another woman (the daughter is visibly upset). A man says it would be worse if a woman that his son-in-law left his daughter for was homely. Three women and a man talk about the endowment of a man in the room and another man not in the room, in reference to their ability to satisfy their wives sexually. A young man talks to a young woman at a party about being that "coma girl," and the young woman pretends to go back into a coma to make him leave her alone. A young woman talks about her mother taking a "walk of shame" out of a frat house. A woman tells her daughter that they can talk about sexual matters and refers to her genitals as "vagoogle." A young man confesses his romantic feeling for a woman and asks her to leave college and backpack through Europe with him; she declines and breaks up with him. After hitting another woman in the crotch with a handball, a woman leans down and apologizes to her vagina. A young woman talks about waking up from a coma with C-cups. A woman talks about wearing her breasts around her waist proudly.
 A young woman updates her mother's look and pulls her top off to reveal a long sleeve Henley shirt that she unbuttons; the younger woman remarks about her mother's breasts (we see a bit of cleavage). A young woman wears a deeply cut tank top that reveals cleavage, bare shoulders and a portion of her bra. A young man is shown shirtless at a party and we see his bare chest, abdomen, shoulders and back. Several young women are shown wearing low-cut tops and dresses that reveal cleavage, bare shoulders and backs in several scenes throughout the movie. A young woman wears shorts that reveal her bare legs to the upper thighs and other young women remark about her nice legs. A young woman wears a skimpy outfit that reveals cleavage, bare abdomen and legs to the hips.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - A man yells about his son-in-law divorcing his daughter, leaves the room and returns with a handgun saying, "I'm gonna shoot Dan"; the gun discharges and the bullet nearly hits a dog (we see a bullet hole in a stair riser behind the dog). A young woman knees another young woman in the crotch and they fight pulling each other's hair and throwing each other on the floor until they are separated by a woman (we do not see injuries); one young woman tells the other, "I'll put you back in a coma." A young woman head-butts a man and he falls back onto the floor (we do not see blood). A young woman swings at another young woman, a woman jumps in front of her and the woman is struck in the breast (she falls to the floor moaning). A woman throws her mortar board into the air and it hits a man in the ear knocking out his diamond earring (the man winces and holds his ear; we do not see blood).
 A woman and three young women enter a reception hall and destroy the arrangements of cakes, food and decorations leaving everything strewn around the floor; one young woman swings from a sash attached to the ceiling and falls hard on the floor (she is unharmed). A woman piles a man's belongings in the yard, sprays it with lighter fluid and drops a lighter into it; the pile explodes into flames throwing her back onto the ground (she is not harmed). A woman asleep in bed is covered with a pillowcase and taken out of her room by four people wearing animal masks; the pillowcase is removed and we see her tied into a chair and surrounded by people holding candles (it's a sorority initiation) and one young woman paddles her on the buttocks with a heavy wooden paddle and the woman yells and stumbles around but is OK. A young woman tells another young woman, "I will break your face." A man tells a young man that he has a gun (he does not produce or use it).
 A woman playing handball hits the ball hard and it bounces back hitting another woman in the crotch; she complains about being struck in "the lady bits." A young woman cuts off a hunk of another young woman's hair. A young woman is shown with a rash on her face after wearing a mask and she says that she is allergic to latex. A woman sweats profusely and has trouble speaking when doing an oral presentation and after she dabs her face with tissue we see pieces of the paper stuck to her face; she moans in pain after drinking water, we hear her knee crack and she collapses on the floor (she's unconscious briefly but OK later).
 Two young women mock and insult a woman because of her age and appearance in several scenes. A young woman says that she was in a coma for 8 years after a skydiving accident. A husband tells his wife that he wants a divorce and she cries and kicks the side of their car, denting it. A man says that his son-in-law made his daughter drop out of college. A woman says that she is afraid of a lot of things. A woman says, "Chivalry is dead," when no young men help her with her heavy suitcases. Several young women talk about "Fatal Attraction," and a woman says that her daughter urinated in her underpants when watching the movie, and again when seeing food cooking in a pot later. A woman tells a man, "You look like Orson Welles had a stroke," and she tells others, "I hate him." A young woman says, "I like to bury stuff." A woman talks to a young woman about never going out and having no friends. A woman says, "I'm gonna vomit" after being paddled (she does not).

LANGUAGE 4 - 10 sexual references, 6 scatological terms, 13 anatomical terms, 11 mild obscenities, name-calling (coma girl, big feet, horrible, super sad mom sweater, ancient, relic, freaks, Voldemort, book worm, weird, old people, nerds, sexual Dumbledore, pathetic, evil, weenie, dig-head, ding dong, dumb), exclamations (oh my gosh, shut-up), 32 religious exclamations (e.g. Oh My God, Oh God, Honest To God, God).

SUBSTANCE USE - A woman makes a remark about cocaine, several people eat "weed bark" (chocolate laced with marijuana) and are shown to be high (we see some exaggerated facial features and they laugh and slur their speech), and a reference is made to "getting stoned." Two women hold and drink from bottles of alcohol while they play handball and one woman talks about having already had several bottles, many college aged people are shown drinking alcohol in several college party scenes, a young woman tells a woman to party through it, several college-aged people and a woman do several shots of Tequila at a party, people drink champagne at a wedding reception, people drink alcohol at a large sorority party, and people are shown with wine at a restaurant.

MESSAGE - Starting your life over after a 23 year marriage can be a challenge.
