Identity | 2003 | R | - 3.8.7
A group of 10 people, all ostensibly complete strangers to each other, find themselves stranded in an isolated desert motel while a raging storm prevents them from leaving. As the storm gets worse, people start dying, one by one, in very gruesome ways. It is left up to a former police officer (John Cusack) to solve the case. Also with Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet, Clea DuVall, John Hawkes, William Lee Scott, John C. McGinley, Rebecca De Mornay, Jake Busey, Alfred Molina and Pruitt Taylor Vince. Directed by James Mangold. [1:27]

A man lies dead and covered with blood after having been stabbed (we see him a couple of times) and a man is found dead after having a baseball bat shoved down his throat (we see him a few times). A man is hit by a truck and pinned against a wall (we see a bloody hand and then the bloody corpse later) and a car explodes after a boy and woman get in it. A man is stabbed in the back with a sharpened piece of metal (we see him later in the trunk of a car) and a man is strangled with a chain around his neck. A woman is hit by a speeding car (we see this a couple of times and she lies on the road with a huge gash on her throat). A man stitches up a gaping wound on a woman's neck (it is very bloody). A woman opens a door, sees the shadow of someone raising a knife, she screams, jumps out a window and runs away. A man pounds on and kicks a door repeatedly. A man and a woman yell and argue bitterly, and a woman cries and acts hysterically. A man has a bloody hole on his shirt. A car has a blow out and swerves on a wet road. CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
