"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME
The Distinguished Gentleman | 1992 | R | - 3.2.4
Eddie Murphy stars as a small-time con artist who wins a congressional seat due to name recognition (he's called Thomas Jefferson Johnson) and quickly discovers that the big cons are the perfectly legal kind pulled every day on Capitol Hill.
SEX/NUDITY 3 - One clothed, but very graphic, sex scene in which the original Congressman Johnson has sex with an aide on a desk. It is in this scene he has a heart attack and dies. In the beginning Murphy and his cousin are running a phone sex scam with some sexual innuendos. No nudity.

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - Pretty mild stuff. There's a scuffle, and one punch is thrown. Also, Murphy kicks a guy.
LANGUAGE 4 - Lots of references to excrement and a few SOBs.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Adultery, stealing, blackmail, bribery (all that usual Congressional stuff).
MESSAGE - Corruption is bad. It's better to do the right thing because you should make a difference with your life. Money isn't everything.
CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
