Al Pacino stars as head coach of the Miami Sharks, a football franchise falling apart because of an injured and aging quarterback (Dennis Quaid), a fame-loving rookie (Jamie Foxx), and a profit-driven co-owner (Cameron Diaz). Also with James Woods, LL Cool J, Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor, Matthew Modine, Ann-Margret, Bill Bellamy, Andrew Bryniarski, James Caviezel, Aaron Eckhart, John C. SEX/NUDITY 8 - Some sexual innuendo and kissing. A woman climbs on top of a man (we see her bare buttocks and a glimpse of pubic hair between her spread legs). An extended shower scene during which there are bare male buttocks and full frontal male nudity; also, another shorter shower scene with full frontal male nudity and bare buttocks. We see a glimpse of a woman's bare breast; in another scene, we see a woman's bare breasts as she watches television in bed. We see men and women in revealing swimwear (the women are wearing thong bottoms that reveal most of their bare buttocks); the men pull down their shorts and briefly show their buttocks to the women. Scantily clad women and suggestive dancing.

VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - Lots of scenes of football: we hear loud, bone-crunching noises and see men tackled in close-up shots (men are injured at times; in one scene, a man can barely get up). We see a scene from "Ben-Hur" during which men are trampled in a chariot race. A man throws another man into the bleachers (he gets a bloody temple), a man hits another on top of the head and a man grabs a woman by the elbow and throws a chair while in a yelling match. A fistfight, many scuffles, a shoving match, a face slap and some brawls in the football stands during a game. A doctor stitches a man's bloody head cut and we see a close-up of an injection going into an injured limb. Blood spurts out of a man's mouth, a man has a bloody cheek and a man has a bloody nose and mouth; also, we see spots of blood on a man's football uniform, blood on a man's sleeves and a bloody bandage. Many scenes of a man vomiting.
LANGUAGE 10 - About 117 F-words, many anatomical and scatological references, many mild obscenities and many racial epithets (most contained in one background song).
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Football, business decisions, friendship, physical injuries, loyalty.
MESSAGE - Pro football players must be determined to win every game.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
