Transformers: Rise of the Beasts VIOLENCE/GORE 4

 – A large vessel launches smaller robotic creatures resembling scorpions to a planet’s surface and they skitter around; a gorilla-bot attacks some of them crushing them and throwing them and a large glowing bot approaches it, threatens the gorilla-bot to hand over a key, it tells the threatening bot, “We’d rather die” and the threatening bot picks it up, slashes and stabs the gorilla-bot (part of its arm dangles off from the shoulder). A booming voice orders bots to “Rip the flesh from their bones and bring me the key” as numerous attack bots are launched, chase humans and attack other bots; two bots fight using large swords, one pushes the other to the ground, smaller bots skitter through a museum searching for a young woman and a young man and one lunges toward the young woman and the young man hits it with a pole, the two humans run and hide, they are shot at by other bots and an explosion throws the two humans, another bot runs between the humans and a large bot that runs it through and lifts it off the ground (we see a blade through its midsection), shoots it with an energy blast and drops it to the ground where its lights flicker and go dark. Many bots fight slamming each other to the ground, pulling each other apart and lopping off limbs; a young man is grabbed and a bot prepares to shoot him until another bot stands over him and takes the shots (it falls limp).
A bot shoots another bot and they tumble down a mountain, a rocket is fired at a speeding van and it turns sideways with its doors on both sides open so the rocket can pass right through, one bot tells another bot, “You’re going to die,” and the other says, “I couldn’t think of a better place to bury you.” A bot shoots an eagle bot as it flies overhead and we see a wound on its wing festering and spreading. An eagle-bot flies through an area where other bots are fighting and blows flames on the ground to break them up. A transport plane flies overhead, lands hard and transforms and it coughs and spits out a part covered with oily goo. An eagle-bot shoots fire onto other bots and it fights with a bot that grips it and kills it (we see its lights flicker and go dark). A bot is thrown to the ground and covered by many smaller bots that stab and slash it. A large bot is stabbed and slashed, pressed into a lava stream and lifted off the ground before having its head and spinal column pulled off. Two bots fight midair and one explodes.
The ground rumbles and erupts spraying lava into the air, a giant vessel grips the planet and a glowing device spins and shoots into the sky. We hear about a being that travels the universe devouring worlds to use as fuel and we see it perched on a planet sucking up particles from the surface in a few scenes. We hear that a being imbues dark energy into anyone it is near. A giant portal spins in the air before it shrinks and disappears.
A man plots to steal an expensive car from a parking garage and a young man sneaks through the building to find it; he unlocks the car, a security guard points a gun at him and the vehicle speeds out of the garage (driving itself), and through the city streets chased by police; the car speeds over a truck ramp, a police car follows and flips on its side before being struck by a truck, other police cruisers chase the car across a bridge, the car creates four more of itself, one car drives in reverse, a police cruiser slams into it a few times, a police cruiser crashes into a water barrel barrier, and the car stops short and dumps the driver out onto the ground before transforming into a giant robot. A young man breaks into a museum (we hear glass shatter) and a young woman inside runs away from him when he comes into the room where she is working; she points a glowing crystal at him, hits him in the head with it and an armed security guard enters the room as a large window explodes and throws all three people across the room (the young woman has a bloody spot on her forehead).
A young man and a young woman search for a device among ruins and turn images on stones to line up and a platform lowers to reveal a stone ladder that leads into a cave; they climb down the stones and into the dark cave, a bot creature chases them through the cave, it lunges at the young woman and slams into a rock when she dodges it, other bots join the chase and the young man grips a device attached to his hand that shoots an energy blast at them. A young woman runs through a cave and nearly steps off a ledge into lava below; a bot creature attacks her and pulls off her backpack that lands on a ledge below her, she throws the bot off the ledge, jumps down to retrieve her pack and nearly falls.
A young woman scans a sculpture in a museum and the outer shell breaks away to reveal a glowing crystal that shoots a bright beam of light into the sky and the young woman panics that she is going to lose her job. Three glowing vessels crash into a river, transform and climb out of the water. A bot constructs a suit around a young man. A small computerized device clamps onto a young man’s hand.
A young man becomes upset when he is told that he will not be interviewed for a job because he is unreliable. We hear that a young boy is suffering from sickle cell anemia and he has pain in his hand in one scene. A man complains about the “vampiric nature of modern capitalism.” A young man asks his young brother what the rules are and the boy replies, “Bros before hos.” A woman tells her son to laugh in an interview and says, “White people love that.” We see the World Trade Center towers in the New York skyline. A bot character says, “Cross my spark and hope to die.” A bot tells a young man, “Don’t ask what part of my body it came from,” about a robotic device that the bot gave him.

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
