Also with Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss and Mary-Louise Parker. Directed by Robert Schwentke. [1:51]

SEX/NUDITY 2 - A man and a woman kiss passionately, arms wrapped around one another, as another man watches and makes faces. A man and a woman kiss and hug. A woman and a man dance arm-in-arm, and are about to kiss but are interrupted. A man and a woman kiss in greeting. A man carries a woman in his arms.
An older man stares at a young woman's clothed buttocks when she bends over, and she catches his eye and smiles. A woman takes off her sweater (she is wearing a tank-top but her cleavage is visible) and comments to herself, "You're not getting any of this" after refusing a man who attempted to invite himself into her house.
A woman jokingly tells a man that another woman is trying to "set her up" on a date since the woman believes she is gay. A woman jokes with a man, saying that being kidnapped on her first date is not the worst thing that has happened to her on a date.

VIOLENCE/GORE 7 - A man stands in front of another man, who's standing on a chair with a noose around his neck and hands bound, begging for his life; the other man kicks the chair and we see the man's limp body hanging from the noose moments later.
A man standing at a window is shot through the glass (we see a small bloody wound on his chest) and bullets fly into the window as we see a helicopter firing machine guns at the building, until it explodes.
A man empties a gun's bullets into a skillet on a stovetop, the bullets explode and men outside the house open fire on him: four men approach the house while firing, holes are seen in the house as dust and wood flies through the air, they throw two smoke bombs into the house, and the man inside attacks the four men, hitting one man in the face, knocking two to the ground and shooting another point-blank in the head (we see a portion of the porch collapse and we see bullet holes all over the house). A man walks out of a building, is shot by a single bullet, and falls to the ground; another man goes to investigate and confirms that the man is dead. A man shoots another man in the stomach twice, and he falls to the ground with blood on his stomach. A man shoots a woman in the face and she falls to the ground. A man shoots another man who is chained to a rock.
A man throws smoke bombs into a kitchen as a large group of soldiers fires at a man and a woman, who are firing back at them; dust and bits of the wall are seen flying through the air, we see some of the soldiers drop to the ground (it is implied they are struck but we do not see blood), and the woman is shot in the stomach (we see blood on the wound on her stomach and back, as well as her hand as she is holding the wound).
Two men fight: they tackle one another, slamming each other against walls, one of the men throws a desk at the other man, and one (his face is bloodied) grasps the other in his legs and we hear bones snapping; one of the men slips away as the other runs after him, firing a gun and a bullet hits him in the arm (both are visibly injured and we later see one man wearing a sling, his face is cut and bloodied and we hear a crunching noise as a doctor sets his arm).
A man hands another man an envelope, he opens it and we see that it has approximately a dozen severed fingers (no is blood visible). As a woman digs a bloody bullet from a man's arm, they discuss how they both seem to always get shot when they're around each other (we see the bloody bullet dropped into a glass and blood streaking the man's arm).
Two men and a woman run as men fire machine guns at them; a man fires a missile at the three and one of the men bats it back at the man who fired it, and we see him being struck and bursting into a ball of fire. A woman fires a rocket launcher at a man, and he fires a bullet into the missile, causing it to blow up close to her and cause a massive fireball.
A man wearing explosives (presumably fake) taped to his chest chases a car: the car speeds through traffic, the man leaps onto the roof of the car, the driver swerves, the man falls to the ground, and one of the passengers cracks the glass when his head slams against it; the driver then tasers two of the passengers (we later see them slumped over, leaning against a wall outside of the car).
A limousine carrying four men crashes into a car in a parking garage, a car driving behind the limousine crashes into the limousine and the people exit the vehicles, as they approach a second limousine, which blows up: rapid machine gun fire is heard, the cars are riddled with bullet holes, people move out of the way to prevent being hit and one man is struck in the chest (he slumps over and a small amount of blood is visible on his shirt). A man driving an SUV follows another man in a car, and crashes into it, causing it to spin around multiple times; the driver gets out of the car and fires at the SUV (the driver of the SUV is unharmed).
A man punches another man in the face, knocking him to the ground. A man slaps a man, who is duct-taped to a chair; he and another man then pull out a series of tools and imply that they are going to use them to torture him, but they put away the tools and one of the men slaps the man a second time.
Three men carrying rifles, enter a house, and they break down the door of a room where an unarmed man fights them; he snaps the neck of one of the men (we hear the bones snap), knocks one in the face, and takes a syringe from one of the men's hands and forces him to inject himself (he falls to the ground). A man tackles two men (we hear the cracking of bones).
A man dressed as a police officer shoves a woman against a police cruiser and injects her with a syringe; a man comes from behind and hits the police officer, dropping him to the ground. A man walks into another man's room and holds a gun to the back of his head.
A woman approaches a firefighter and tells him she cannot stop a man's bleeding (we see a man propped against a wall, with his shirt and face bloodied); moments later we see her walking with the bloodied man wearing the firefighter's clothing, and carrying a body slung over his shoulder, implying that he had knocked the firefighter out. A police officer tackles a man standing in the middle of the street holding a handgun, as police cars gather around him.
A man leaps in front of another man and a woman, holding a crossbow in their faces and a knife to the man's crotch. Three men hold guns and knives to one another's throats, and then simultaneously drop them. A man grabs a woman and slams her against a wall; he holds a gun to her forehead as another man and another woman watch, and the second man shouts and tells him not to kill anyone and put down his gun (the man complies). Many military and police officers swarm around the dead body of a man, as a woman in the distance shoots at them and they fire back (both miss, and we see no blood).
A woman throws a can of beer at a man, he ducks, she throws a potted plant at his head, it smashes against a wall and she then picks up a candelabra to attack him; we see the woman moments later bound and gagged in the backseat of the man's car, trying to shout through the tape on her mouth. A woman knocks a man in the face with a clutch, he falls to the ground and she walks away.
A crowded ballroom of people shout and rush toward the doors as a man shouts that there is a gas leak; tables are overturned, we see people shoving one another and we see security guards shoving people away from the door.
A man pushing a cart carrying another man narrowly avoids exploding landmines as they get quickly away from a large group of men holding guns. A woman tumbles down a snow-covered hill and sits up at the bottom, unharmed but surrounded by officers holding guns.

A woman is seen in an interrogation room as a man makes vague threats about torturing her. A man jokingly tells another man being shot that it would not be that bad, since he is in the late stages of liver cancer. It is implied that a man is told that an older man had been killed. Two men have a terse conversation, which implies that one of the men will injure the other's family, including his two children, if the man injures his girlfriend. A group of men discuss how a man had "gone off the reservation," massacred an entire village, and that he had ordered the murder of any person who knew the truth of his past. On multiple occasions, a group of men and women discuss how another group of people are determined to kill them. We hear about a group of people who killed a young woman. A woman instructs another woman saying that they are looking for people intent on killing them. Several different men discuss with one another, on multiple occasions, how they want to kill one another. A man tells another man that he feels like killing him since he had killed his brother. A man implies to another man that they should kill a woman and that he knows "an area" where there are a lot of alligators to "dispose" of her body. A man tells another man how upset he feels that he has not killed anyone in years. A woman asks an older woman about the details of a young woman's death, as a man listens. A woman tells another woman that she had been forced to shoot a man in the chest three times -- the man is later seen unharmed, apart from three scars on his chest. A woman describes to a man a book she is reading, saying that the two characters were assassins set up to attack and kill people. A group of men shout at one another as one man instructs another man to handcuff another person. We overhear a man having a telephone conversation with presumably a small child and he reassures the child that "everyone has to deal with bullies," after the child explains they had been teased and threatened at school.

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
