"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME
Finding Forrester | 2000 | PG-13 | - 3.1.5
A reclusive writer (Sean Connery) befriends an inner city high school basketball star (Robert Brown) in this drama about the power of words and friendship. Also with F. Murray Abraham, Michael Pitt, Anna Paquin, Matt Damon, Joey Buttafuoco, April Grace, Busta Rhymes and Gerry Rosenthal. [2:15]
SEX/NUDITY 3 - One scene with mild kissing. In two scenes we hear people having sex off camera (in the apartment next door), including sounds of a headboard banging against a wall and a woman moaning. Talk of "getting laid." We see the bare chests and shoulders of several young men in a high school locker room.
VIOLENCE/GORE 1 - A couple of minor scuffles on a basketball court.
LANGUAGE 5 - 2 F-words, several anatomical and scatological references, some mild obscenities, a few religious profanities and racial slurs.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Racism, classism, prejudice, friendship, writing, death, agoraphobia, adolescence, interracial dating, honesty, loyalty, academic vs. athletic achievement.
MESSAGE - Do not judge a person by his race, class or interests; find your passion and pursue it.
CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
