Please note that this is not a review of the unrated video version: A time traveling soldier (Josh Brolin) is determined to kill a mutant boy he considers responsible for his family’s death. Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) takes him on with a motley group of mutant superheroes and sort-of mutant superhero wannabes. Also with Morena Baccarin, Zazie Beetz, Ryan Reynolds, Brianna Hildebrand, Bill Skarsgård, T.J. Miller, Terry Crews, Rob Delaney, Lewis Tan, Eddie Marsan, Jack Kesy, Shioli Kutsuna, Julian Dennison and Leslie Uggams. Directed by David Leitch. One line of dialogue is spoken in Cantonese with English subtitles. Several lines of dialogue are spoken in Spanish with English subtitles. [1:59]

SEX/NUDITY 5 – A man re-growing his lower half after an accident is shown seated with his child-like legs spread apart and then crosses his legs (we see a very brief glimpse of his genitals and his bare buttocks). A woman wears a short, low-cut top that reveals her cleavage, bare abdomen and back. A woman wears a sheer top that reveals her bra through the fabric. The camera focuses on a man’s clothed buttocks as he leans forward wearing a tight-fitting outfit. A man is shown shirtless and we see his bare chest, abdomen and arms along with a metallic framework across his chest and arm and along his spine. A woman wears an outfit that reveals her cleavage and bare abdomen in several scenes. The pants flap of a giant being is pulled open and exposes his bare buttocks (please see the Violence/Gore category for more details).
 A man is shown re-growing the lower half of his body and we see small legs and feet; a woman reaches over to touch the man’s leg and it is implied that she touches his genitals. A man hugs a large metal man and grasps his clothed buttock.
 A woman jumps into the arms of a man and they kiss in several scenes.
 A man and a woman talk about having a child together. A young woman introduces another young woman as her girlfriend. A man lifts a cloth covering another man’s genitals and asks, “Scoutmaster?” (implying that he recognizes the genitals that we do not see). A man hugs another man and talks about parts of their bodies touching. A man refers to prison rape.
 A woman gives a man an IUD in a box as a gift and tells him that they can conceive now. A metal decoration in the shape of a scrotum is shown hanging from the back of a pickup truck.

VIOLENCE/GORE 9 – A man smokes a cigarette while lying across barrels of kerosene; he flicks the cigarette into the air and an explosion blows the man to pieces (we see body parts thrown amongst flames and his severed head with bloody tissue at the neck). A giant being picks a man up and rips him in half (we see him tear at the waist and bloody tissue is shown on each half).
 Several people jump out of an airplane, deploy their parachutes and are thrown out of control by heavy winds: one person crashes into a billboard (he’s unharmed), one person crashes into a bus (he is presumed dead or wounded), one person crashes into a helicopter’s spinning blades (we see green splatter and a tuft of hair), one lands in a tree chipper and we hear grinding as he is pulled into the machine (blood splatters on the equipment), and a man expels brown acidic vomit (we see the goo) on another man trying to help him and the second man’s arm and part of his chest dissolve.
 A man is shot in the chest and dies. A man jumps through a window and into a room where many men with guns open fire on him (we see blood spurt from the bullet wounds and blood is shown on the side of a bar as he jumps over it), and he uses two long swords to cut off the gunmen’s limbs and heads (we see blood spray and severed limbs and heads are thrown). A man enters a sauna type setting with many men wearing cloth wraps around their waists; the man draws two swords and slays the men cutting off limbs, heads and stabbing them through the body (we see blood and tissue). A man enters a warehouse and fights many other men using an axe, a baseball bat, a chainsaw and other weapons leaving bloody, partially dismembered bodies; blood spurts on a security camera lens and we see one man run across the screen in flames. A man is shot repeatedly and blood spurts out of wounds; he then fights the shooter with swords. A giant being is shot repeatedly, he attacks the people shooting him with kicks and punches, and one man is impaled on a fence post (we see the metal rod through his head and it is pulled out later and we see blood splatter). Several men with guns shoot at two men and one uses a brick to fight them off (we see blood splatter and spurt). A woman fights several guards and one ends up tripping and breaking his neck on a bed frame while another is decapitated by a book shelf (we see blood at the neck) and another trips and stabs himself in the head with a knife (we see blood). A man throws a knife and it hits another man in the forehead (we see blood). A man shoots another man in the head (blood splatters) and he falls to the ground where he is shot several more times. A man is shot in the head and we see blood on his forehead and on a manuscript. A man chases a transport and jumps toward it but misses; he lands on the road and is struck by an armored vehicle and the driver shoots the man through the hand before the man stabs the driver through the foot to control the accelerator (we see blood on both wounds). Two men on a prison transport fight and a prisoner in a cell is shot in the head (blood splatters).
 A man blows a hole in a prison wall and enters the facility shooting many guards and fighting others (we hear and see arms braking and see blood splatter). A man points a gun at another man and shoots at him, a boy jumps on the shooter stabbing him with a pen and the other man knocks him over a railing; the two men crash to the ground and one is shown bent unnaturally over a table and he takes some time to revive. A boy chases a man through a building and throws fire balls at him setting the building on fire.
 A man chases another man onto a busy street; the man is struck by a car, crashes on the windshield and then onto the road as the other man speeds away in a car and crashes; the first man punches through the driver’s window of the car and the driver is thrown out onto the street with blood on his head and face; the first man holds the wounded man and steps into the path of a speeding vehicle and they are both struck (we do not see the result). A man is struck by a car and blood sprays as he is pushed off-screen. A man shoots another man in the head and we see blood and the bullet hole; the man is surrounded and a collar is placed around his neck. Several men shoot through an apartment door and a man inside fights them with a variety of kitchen knives; we see bloody wounds as the men fall dead and a bullet strikes a woman in the chest (we see blood spurts as the bullet passes through her and blood on her sweater as she dies). Two men fight with punches and kicks and slamming each other into metal frameworks in a prison; one man’s arm is wrapped unnaturally around another man’s shoulders and when he is released the arm hangs limp, and the man is stabbed several times and punched hard in the back. Two men are blown out of a prison facility and roll down a snow-covered mountain; one man strikes his head on a rock (we see blood and his dented head), and crashes into an ice-covered body of water and sinks resurfacing later shaking uncontrollably from the cold. A woman fights a guard in a transport vehicle, disables him and throws him out of the moving truck. A metal man and a giant being fight in an extended scene with lots of punches and pummeling. We see a flashback to a flame blowing through a house and across a woman and child trying to hide.
 The pants flap of a giant being is pulled open (please see the Sex/Nudity category for more details) and an electrical cable is stuffed in the buttock cleavage before he falls into a pool and is electrocuted (we see flashes and the water bubbles).
 A boy with the ability to create fire is shown surrounded by armed police as other mutants arrive on the scene; the boy threatens to harm anyone that approaches him, he throws two mutants and one crashes into a bus, denting it, and a man throws his sword at the boy hitting him in the head with the sword hilt and knocking him unconscious before an electrical collar is placed around the boy’s neck. A man tasers two men in the chest and they collapse (we do not see if they are dead or just stunned). A man is tasered by a prison guard and collapses.
 A man is chased by many armed men and the first man crashes head first through a back window of a taxi and the car speeds away. A large metal man throws another man out of a wheelchair, and holds him against a wall by the throat. A boy in prison is punched in the face twice by a much larger man; a man seated at a table nearby is stabbed through the hand with a pen (we see blood) and then beaten on the floor with many kicks and punches to the head and body (we see him with bloody wounds and bruises on his face later).
 We see the charred remains of a woman and a child in several scenes throughout the movie. We see a man’s badly burned but healed flesh on his face, head, arms and feet in several scenes. After having been blown to pieces a man’s body parts are placed in a large duffle bag and dragged behind a large metal man. A man plays with a musical toy that depicts a man impaled by a tree branch (blood is seen on his chest). A car crashes into a gas station and causes a huge explosion. A car is flipped into the air and nearly crashes on a woman.
 A man fighting another man lands on him straddling his face with his clothed crotch. A man threatens to melt a metal man down. A man hugs another man who holds a knife to the first man’s genitals.
 We see a stuffed teddy bear blown open and its stuffing is thrown around. A boy is shown with scars on his neck from a weapon used by a man. A man is shown with the word “mutant” tattooed on his forehead. A man is shown shirtless and we see his bare chest, abdomen and arms along with a metallic framework across his chest and arm and along his spine. A man is bound with duct tape and is told that he will be tortured unless he gives another man information. A man’s head is shown twisted backward and he twists it back again with cracking sounds. A man is shown re-growing the lower half of his body and we see small legs and feet (please see the Sex/Nudity category for more details).
 A man and a boy are taken to a prison for mutants and we see many other mutant men in cells with heavy security. A man prepares many large weapons.
 A boy talks about burning a man and taking a picture with his burning corpse. A man says that he wants to be a contract killer. Several references are made to “the F-word,” referring to “family.” We hear a news broadcast about a “mutant incident.” A man talks about how he will kill people. A man says, “I will bathe in the blood of your enemies.” A man tells another man that a stuffed bear he carries on his belt is stained with the blood of his dead daughter. A man yells at children and calls them an abomination. A man talks about how another man smells. A man talks about his method of using toilet paper and baby wipes to clean himself.
 A man vomits in a toilet and spits (we hear gagging and do not see goo). A man says that he defecated in his pants. A man gags and seems to be close to vomiting in a few scenes (he does not vomit). A man urinates on the floor of a bar where he is seated on a stool (we see the trickle) and another man mops up the mess. There are several references to a “prison wallet” and a boy reaches into the back of his pants in a few scenes (implying keeping items in his anus). A man says that his super power is spitting acidic vomit. A man spits as he runs (we see spittle).

LANGUAGE 10 – About 74 F-words and its derivatives, 8 obscene hand gestures, 7 sexual references, 36 scatological terms, 30 anatomical terms, 9 mild obscenities, name-calling (unspeakable monsters, metal man, putz, dumb, spineless, swamp mouth, jabbering [anatomical term deleted] plug, thugs, racist, pedophiles in nursing shoes, sick, Unabomber, sugar bear, gangster, pervert, annoying), 2 religious profanities (GD), 29 religious exclamations (e.g. Holy [scatological term and anatomical term deleted], Mary Mother Of Joseph, Oh My God, Thank God, Shiny Jesus, Jesus, Jesus Christ, Oh God, God, Amen Brother, a man says The Lord (referring to himself) works in mysterious ways, a man makes reference to himself as a “higher power”).

SUBSTANCE USE – A man puts a bag of cocaine in his mask and then pulls the mask over his face and hits himself in the face causing a burst of white powder, and we see a few pouches of cocaine hidden under the floorboards of an apartment. Many people are shown with alcoholic beverages in a bar scene, two men drink cans of beer on the back of a pickup truck, and a man guzzles a can of beer. A man smokes a cigarette in an apartment.

DISCUSSION TOPICS – Family, death of a loved one, confidence, mutants, superheroes, breaking rules, sense of purpose, role models, parenting, guilt, pity, sexism, luck, doing the right thing, sacrifice, trust, racism, heroism, time travel.

MESSAGE – Family is everything, although what constitutes a family is an elastic concept.
