Damsel SEX/NUDITY 1

 – A young man and a young woman kiss at their wedding. A young man and a young woman walk together, flirt and hold hands. A young woman is told that a marriage has been arranged between a prince of a wealthy kingdom and her, and she appears nervous about meeting him.
A young woman climbs a wall of sharp crystals in a cave and the camera’s vantage point shows her bare legs to the hips and underwear under her skirt. A young woman stands on a pedestal wearing undergarments as she is dressed by several women that layer numerous garments on her including a corset that they lace up tightly. Women wear low-cut gowns that reveal cleavage in several scenes. A young woman wears a low-cut nightgown that reveals cleavage.

Damsel VIOLENCE/GORE 6

 – Horses charge toward a cave and men armed with torches, swords and shields enter; several of the men face a large dragon emerging from the shadows and it sprays flames on them, we hear the men screaming as they collapse in flames and die, the dragon swoops through the cave picking one man up and throwing him against a pillar killing him, and it picks up another man and stomps on him with its heavy claw crushing him (we see a spurt of blood and hear a crunch). A dragon chases a man, pins him against a stone wall and crushes him (we hear him scream). A man is pinned under a dragon’s claw, the dragon pierces the man’s armor with its sharp claw and we see blood pooling under him, as well as in his mouth and on his armor as he dies. A dragon lands on a roof over a crowd of people gathered below and sprays flames on them (we see a woman engulfed and burning and the metal in a headpiece she is wearing melts and streams down her face as she screams).
A woman tries to intervene as a young girl is taken away by guards and she is stabbed in the stomach with a sword (we see blood on her dress, and we see her OK later). A young girl is slashed on the hand with a dagger and we see blood before being thrown off a walkway into a chasm; we see her unconscious later with a dragon’s tail wrapped around her. A young woman holds a sword toward a dragon, plunges it into the dragon’s mouth as it blows flames toward her and she falls into water (we see her arms and chest charred and bloody from burns); when the young woman revives and climbs out of the water, she stabs the dragon in the eye (we hear a squish), the dragon pins her under its claw and presses a talon into her side, she stabs the dragon in the leg (blood spurts) and it pulls away; the young woman goads the dragon to burn her and it blows flames toward her, the flames flip back and engulf the dragon and it falls to the ground in flames, and the young woman raises her sword over the dragon and brings it down into the ground (not stabbing the dragon).
Several people are gathered in a cave wearing metal masks for a ceremony that includes slashing the hands of a young man and a young woman with a dagger (we see the slashes and they bleed); their hands are pressed together and the young man carries the young woman over a walkway over a deep chasm, stops midway and throws her over the side (we hear her scream); we see her slamming into branches and she grabs onto a vine and slams to the ground hard (we see her with bloody cuts on her face and hands). A young woman tries to climb out of a deep cave and falls back to the ground crying as we see a large eye open in the shadows.
A young woman climbs through a wall of sharp crystals to reach the outside of a cave; she slips and catches on again and we see a dragon with its mouth open at the bottom of the wall (many sharp teeth are shown). A young woman climbs a rope as a dragon blows flames at her; she reaches the top of the rope and escapes on horseback, gets off the horse, hides in a stone outcropping and the dragon sprays flames on the horse as it continues to run (we see the horse engulfed in flames). A young woman walks through a dark cave holding a broken branch as a weapon; she finds a small bird in flames flapping on the ground and douses it with sand as many more birds in flames fly into the area and fall dead on the ground. A deep voice rumbles in the shadows, heavy wings flap, and a claw scratches on a stone wall as a young woman hides in a cave and the voice says that it can smell her; the young woman screams and runs and a dragon blows flames toward her singeing her leg (we see the bloody burn and she whimpers and moans). A young woman walks toward an opening in a cave and nearly steps out and off a ledge (we see a very tall sheer stone wall that leads to the ground below); she steps back into the cave as a dragon hovers in front of her and blows flames into the opening.
A young woman walks through a dark cave, crawls through a narrow passage and is pinned by her clothing that tears away and she falls, she tries to jump a chasm and slides down but catches herself using a dagger that she stabs into the stone and pulls herself back up. We see a burned corpse with bloody wounds on the head and face. A young woman catches drops of water in her mouth from melting ice above her; a dragon blows flames into the ice, melting it and the young woman runs away and slides into an alcove where she finds several corpses.
A young woman has a fever dream where she sees several other injured young women suffering after being thrown into a cave with a dragon and we see some bloody wounds. A young woman wakes up in a panic and pulls glowing bugs off her injured leg only to realize that they have healed her wound. A young woman collects glowing bugs to light her way through a dark cave. A young woman places glowing bugs on a dying dragon’s wounds.
Three dragon’s eggs break open in a dark cave and we see small dragons squirming around in the dark as three men with swords kill them; we hear screeching as the blades are plunged into the creatures and the men are consumed by flames as an adult dragon blows fire on them. We hear heavy wings flapping in a few scenes without seeing what is flying, and other scenes contain deep growling sounds. A ship sails through dense fog and we see the statues of several large dragons with flames burning in their mouths at the entrance to a port.
Many people leave a village carrying their belongings because there is no food and we hear that they are starving and freezing; people tussle over scraps of food. A young woman chops logs with an ax to collect firewood.
We hear a story about a dragon that demands the lives of three women in exchange for leaving a kingdom unharmed. A woman warns a young woman about her upcoming wedding and tells her it’s not too late to reconsider. A woman speaks to another woman condescendingly and remarks about “knowing your station.”

CAVEATS

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
