"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME
On the Line | 2001 | PG | - 3.2.2
Vanity film for N'Sync members Lance Bass and Joey Fatone: A young man who lacks confidence (Bass) meets the perfect young woman on Chicago's "L" train but cannot work up the courage to ask for her name and phone number. Unable to forget her, he launches a publicity campaign with the help of his friends in a last ditch effort to find her. Also with Emmanuelle Chriqui, James Bulliard and Amanda Foreman. [1:30]
SEX/NUDITY 3 - Some cleavage. Two young people kiss passionately. A young man sprays mouthwash on his crotch and is stung. A young man is evidently nude but only his bare chest is visible. Some suggestive lyrics in songs, and young men talk about getting "action" after dates.
VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - A young man is hit in the crotch by a wayward baseball, and during a brief scuffle a young man hits another with a baseball when he gets angry with him. A man kicks audio equipment, and during a flashback some of the equipment hits a woman; we later see her with a broken nose and foot. A woman hits a man with her handbag. There are a few scatological themes: some jocular talk about bowel movements and having hemorrhoids, and one person passes gas several times.
LANGUAGE 2 - A couple of scatological references and anatomical references. It is obvious that several potentially obscene words have been dubbed, some somewhat inexpertly.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Jealousy, gay stereotypes, vanity, taking risks, teen idols, fate, cheating.
MESSAGE - Don't be afraid to take risks.
CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
Gladiator II - 2.7.2
Wicked: Part I - 3.4.2
Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin. - 1.5.3
