Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie | 1995 | PG | - 1.3.1
Six teenagers combat evil (in the form of Ivan Ooze) with martial arts moves and computer generated special effects.
SEX/NUDITY 1 - Some skimpy outfits which reveal women's legs and midriffs.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - The evil creatures are deformed and ugly, but cartoonish (purple head with bad teeth, a talking pig, large, talking ravens and a shiny insect-like robot). Ivan Ooze puts out bolts of electricity a few times, which cause explosions and destruction. About five scenes where the rangers must use their martial arts skills to vanquish the bad guys; they are hit, kicked, tossed about and hurt. There is no blood but the bad guys splatter into purple ooze and collapse. The bones of a dinosaur come to life and attack some people. A group of people walk off a cliff.
LANGUAGE 1 - Many taunts.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Martial arts, good versus evil, doing something dangerous for the greater good.
MESSAGE - Good will win over evil, although it might be a hard fight and violence will have to be used.
CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
