"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME
Boys and Girls | 2000 | PG-13 | - 5.2.4
Freddie Prinze Jr. and Claire Forlani are best friends who suffer through failed romantic relationships while trying to figure out what men and women really want from each other. Also with Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Amanda Detmer and Heather Donahue. [1:40]
SEX/NUDITY 5 - Lots of sexual innuendo and many kisses (a couple are passionate; in one scene, a woman starts kissing another briefly). A man and woman kiss passionately and take off each other's shirts (his bare chest and her bra-clad torso are visible); she kisses his bare chest, then they fall onto a bed and continue to kiss passionately until the scene ends. The next morning we see him lying alone in bed, nude but sheet-covered; he pulls her on top of him when she comes back in the room and they briefly kiss. We see a woman wearing a robe and a man wearing boxers, presumably post-coitus. In a scene during the ending credits, we see a man wearing boxers surrounded by four women in bras and panties (we briefly see the backsides of two women wearing buttock-revealing thongs); they ask if he's ever been with four women, but nothing sexual happens. We see many women wearing cleavage- and midriff-revealing tops; in one scene we glimpse a small part of the side of a woman's breast (her small shirt briefly gapes at the side; it doesn't seem like an intentional shot).

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - Mostly played for laughs. In a mock ceremony during a football game, boys try to "stab" the team's mascot; he's finally pushed to the ground, resulting in a small bloody cut on his forehead. A man accidentally hits another in the head with a cue ball, then hits him in the crotch with a pool stick; a man falls backwards off some steps; a woman playfully smacks a man's chest; twice, a woman slaps a man's face; a few football players are tackled during a game; and a man briefly chases another. A TV smashes on a sidewalk (it's implied a woman threw it out of a window) and a woman smashes a guitar against a wall.
Several people pass gas loudly in one scene.
LANGUAGE 4 - Several anatomical references, some scatological references, several mild obscenities, and an insult.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Love relationships, falling in love, one night stands, friendship, false identities, therapy, breaking up, college life.
MESSAGE - The right person for you might be right in front of you. Don't let fear stop you from going after what you want.

Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.

Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
