"One of the 50 Coolest Websites...they simply tell it like it is" - TIME
First Knight | 1995 | PG-13 | - 2.6.0
Richard Gere is Lancelot, Sean Connery is King Arthur and Julia Ormond is the woman they both love in this new take on the Camelot legend.
SEX/NUDITY 2 - A few mild kisses, a couple of passionate kisses, some vague talk of rape in two scenes (although no rape occurs).
VIOLENCE/GORE 6 - A village is attacked: people run away screaming, some are killed by arrows, swords and clubs (no blood seen and everything happens quickly). Several swordfights and two battle scenes complete with fires, swordplay, arrows, and dead people. When people are cut by swords we seldom see blood, but we do hear the sounds of swords cutting into flesh. A woman is taken hostage, and a man rips some of her clothes off (she is still left decently dressed) and vaguely threatens rape. A man and woman nearly drown and fall down a waterfall.
LANGUAGE 0 - None.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - Adultery, betrayal and revenge individual freedom.
MESSAGE - Honor is the most important in life. Learn to forgive.
CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
